An eyewitness in Glasgow has described seeing several bodies lying on the road after the bin lorry crashed.

Police have not confirmed how many people are injured but have described the crash, outside Queen Street station, as "very serious".

Witness Janey Godley said: "There are people on the ground getting CPR and there were bodies still on the road when I approached.

"And the whole surrounding area of George Square and the streets leading into it are absolutely hammered with the emergency services getting there.

"It's the busiest time of year and it's also going to be the saddest time of the year for those families."

Ok the latest news i have is that 6 people are dead and the injured are in double figures with 6 or 7 of those seriously injured.
The bin lorry (used for collecting rubbish bins) travelled up Queen Street ploughing into shoppers before crashing into a private taxi outside the millennium hotel beside Queen St station.
Witnesses reported seeing the driver slumped over the steering wheel and it was reported that he had taken ill in the cab.
The driver is thought to be one of the dead..

The city is a bit stunned by this tragedy and also remembering what happened last year just before xmas when the helicopter crashed into the Clutha bar.
An update on the lorry crash, the driver is not among the dead as was thought but is one of 10 people injured, 5 of those are serious.
3 members of the same family among the 6 deaths.
