Hello everyone.  I'm new here.  Regarding my religious background, my family belonged to the Methodist Church when I was a youngster, although neither of my parents were religious in their daily lives.  My father was a high school teacher and basketball and football coach in a small town below the Mason-Dixon Line.  In the late 1960s, when I was about 10, he took a job with the Federal Gov't., and our church attendance decreased dramatically and then ceased altogether.  Looking back, I can see that our church membership was merely an extension of his coaching--it was the social norm of the day that anyone exercising influence over the young men of the town had better be seen (with his family) in a pew on Sundays.

I myself had lost any latent religiosity by the mid 1990s.   By 2000, I was comfortable in describing myself as an atheist, although I must admit I didn't go out of my way to advertise it.  Now I'm looking to converse/exchange ideas with like-minded folks.  Happy to have found this Forum.

Sorry to have rambled a bit here.

We'll water you. It's probably not going to smell real good,  but harvest season will come eventually.
All hail my new signature!

Admit it. You're secretly green with envy.
