FWIW, Sidetracking cant even take place, as my initial call-to-arms (Atheists Unite!) was really in jest. :smile2:

Some very good thoughts about the various interpretations of 'holy' scriptures. Im still in the camp that they are all B.S... but, admittedly, that's just my own narrow perspective. Heck, Im not even convinced that Jesus really existed... And that's only because not a single word was written by or about him when he was alive. Kind of compelling; don't you think?

I mean, if he really did exist, wouldn't at least ONE of his desciples had the presence-of-mind to write down something about the man and his teachings? One would presume that Jesus was literate. The biblical texts hint to this.

So why, then, did Jesus and all of his followers miraculously fail to write a single word while he was alive?

Why was it decades later when all the marvelous stories about the man suddenly emerged?

Hmmmm.....recalculating...

Quite simply the jesus you are referring to did not exist. Why did it take so long to find anything written about him? Politics, my man, politics. And might I refer you to Richard Carrier? Just google him--he has done an extensive study of Jesus the Tooth Fairy.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent,
Is he able but not willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able or willing?
Then why call him god?
