Been done.  Reagan got a warning.  And Ford twice before him.  Carter was scared off by an overly aggressive rabbit, but that was before he was elected.  Didn't know rabbits worked for the CIA.  Overly sexy interns tried to destroy Clinton, and sabotaged pretzels sent a message to Shrub.  So far Obama has been safe, but that is because everyone is afraid of a potential President Biden.

Do you really think it would be the same, if somebody tries to shoot Trump in this climate?

I just had a terrible thought. What if somebody tries to shoot him? Offf. That would be a catasthrophe. It is the right word I guess.
If they fail to kill him, he wins. If he dies, someone even worse comes along by 2020.

Somebody trying to shoot Drumpf doesn't have some brief aftermath of another one being elected if he is dead or win if he lives.

I am talking about people. People are getting more radical and angry. There could be mass shootings. Or worse, they could start attacking each other in streets in groups regularly. Things can escalate badly. It's not a far fetched scenario.

You weren't in the US in the 60s, or old enough to remember it.  It has been done, the US survived the 60s ... we even had better music then (though it was part British ;-).  America is merely returning to its revolutionary roots ... remember the Tea Party genius with the "moran" sign?

He might even arrange to get himself shot ... it only hurts when he laughs all the way to the voting booth.

Yeah--now that scares the shit right out of me!  Cruz is very, very dangerous--he is a religious idiot who wants to imposed his idiocy on the rest of the country.

Baruch, whatever will happen now, it will be worse than what happened 55 years ago.

A handful of people getting beat up isn't exactly the same thing as say an entire section of the nation taking up arms and going to war with the government. Sure there are probably plenty of people who would love to have a nice sanitary civil war, but wars aren't really sanitary and many, many people get killed and even more end up suffering.
Strange how the people who might think that they might like a nice little war never realize or even think about what happens if they lose that nice little civil war. The chance of being treated very well go down exponentially and it can go on for generations to come.

IDK..In the 60s there was no Facebook where the people getting their heads cracked open by Chicago's finest could hide in grandmas basement and pretend to be the toughest badest fuckers on the planet..Nope, back then people actually had to physically be there to get the night stick across their faces.. Now you can get your head bashed in in under 140 characters while ordering a latte at the Starbucks drive up window.. Now you have to go to extraordinary lengths and typing in ALL CAPS strikes fear into the hearts of your opponents..as long as you preface it with OMG!

It's a good point. And there is more. There is MORE of everything now. More people, more problems (real or fake), more bullshit, more anger...etc.

Very true Shoe.. Today Elizabeth Warren laid into the loser Trump.. Pretty impressive if you ask me..
I just hope people are listening to her..
QuoteLet’s be honest â€" Donald Trump is a loser. Count all his failed businesses. See how he kept his father’s empire afloat by cheating people with scams like Trump University and by using strategic corporate bankruptcy (excuse me, bankruptcies) to skip out on debt. Listen to the experts who’ve concluded he’s so bad at business that he might have more money today if he’d put his entire inheritance into an index fund and just left it alone.

Trump seems to know he’s a loser. His embarrassing insecurities are on parade: petty bullying, attacks on women, cheap racism, and flagrant narcissism. But just because Trump is a loser everywhere else doesn’t mean he’ll lose this election. People have been underestimating his campaign for nearly a year â€" and it’s time to wake up.

People talk about how “this is the most important election” in our lifetime every four years, and it gets stale. But consider what hangs in the balance. Affordable college. Accountability for Wall Street. Healthcare for millions of Americans. The Supreme Court. Big corporations and billionaires paying their fair share of taxes. Expanded Social Security. Investments in infrastructure and medical research and jobs right here in America. The chance to turn our back on the ugliness of hatred, sexism, racism and xenophobia. The chance to be a better people.

More than anyone we’ve seen before come within reach of the presidency, Donald Trump stands ready to tear apart an America that was built on values like decency, community, and concern for our neighbors. Many of history’s worst authoritarians started out as losers â€" and Trump is a serious threat. The way I see it, it’s our job to make sure he ends this campaign every bit the loser that he started it.

Yeah. If he did nothing but put his inheritance into a fund and fingered his asshole for the next 40 years, he'd have about twice the money he has now. People act surprised he's so rich, but anyone can end up rich with a successful businessman for a father and 100 million bucks in inheritance.
