And it's often mutually objectifying.

What are the categories of heterosexual female porn compared to the male ones? Can you name a few?

How far you need to bend backwards to claim something like that?

SEX can be mutually objectifying, Shoe, not porn. Porn is, by it's nature, objectifying. It is not usually meant for any purpose, but for the viewer to become aroused and masturbate.

Yes, agreed. But he is talking about porn, not sex. They are two very different things. That is the whole point.

Actually, Atheon was responding to what I had said, in the post just before his. Which is essentially that porn is objectifying, because sex itself is mostly objectifying.

If you think porn is objectifying men and women the same way with sex people are having one on one, then you are very confused about what is sex and what is porn.

Porn is the sexual acts of written fantasies and acted/done by professionals in front of a camera. They are made to follow particular demands of consumers. The person watching porn has no interaction with the scene, but simply the voyeur over a fantasy, expecting to be turned on. It's basically voyeurism. Porn stars have exaggerated body ideals and over the top sexual performances. Nothing matches the reality.  It's done and recorded in particlar ways so it would look in a certain way to the viewer.

Sex is what non professional people have in privacy between themselves, physically getting intimate and most often with partners they feel they can be intimate with. We do not have sex in a way so it would look good to an observer from outside. We do not get paid, we are not observed or recorded. Average sex does not include extreme scenarios or exaggerated positions or elaborated role playing. Exaggerated body images...etc.

Objectifying each other to make a partner happy in bed -someone you are attached with somewhat emotional bonds even for just the act - has nothing in common with what professionals do in front of a camera. Motivation is different, benefits are different.

Yes, I meant sex, not porn.

I think women just get their porn in a different medium for the most part. Want to see women objectifying men in a sexual scenario?

https://www.goodreads.com/genres/romance

Behold the faceless male torsos. All of them have an 8 pack. All of them will end up being either royalty or absurdly rich and powerful. They will also, with very few exceptions, all be the exact same character. The same character spanning sub-genres and authors. They will also most likely fall in love with the female lead at first sight, skipping past all the annoying hard stuff about real romance so we can get down to the orgasms and shopping.

Sounds a lot like what men get out of porn vids, minus the shopping I guess.

Head on over to the M M Romance section for a nice parallel to lesbian porn vids.

Different medium, same result.

And on the wings of a dream so far beyond reality
All alone in desperation now the time has come
Lost inside you\'ll never find, lost within my own mind
Day after day this misery must go on

I started to think people actually have no idea what is the issue here, but just after maintaining the usual rat race between female and male camps.

I'd appreciate if a het male gives a remote sign on full understanding of the difference between what is pornography and what is sex in real life. Because obviously it is not registered that NOBODY is defending that males are NOT objectified. Or even what is meant by 'objectification' here.

That's why I like aitm even though he drives me crazy at most times with this issues. The bastard actually has an idea about sex in real life and fantasy and the gap between.

Eh there's videos too. I've seen plenty of videos where women prey on men. There's probably just as much of those as the flip-side (or actually more). And talking about objectifying women in porn... How about the fact that in porn women of all shapes, sizes, and body types are featured, but the guy is almost always fit or at least somewhat fit? And don't get me started on penis size...

Yeah "objectification" of women is pretty bullshit in porn, at least in the sense that they are more objectified than men.

Technically everyone in the video taking part in the porn is objectified. lol They're selling the porn after all. They're products

Yep, of course. That's what I meant above in my first post. It is also the product of the culture and it is shaped according to what people consume and demand.

Now I'm in a camp? That's cute.

Not everyone who responds in a given thread will be talking about the same thing you were talking about in that thread. My comment was unrelated to your discussion, and the way you know it was unrelated is because I didn't quote anyone when I wrote it. It was just a thought I had after reading the thread.

Don't go there, Shoe.

No shit? And here I thought they just hid a camera and waited to see if someone had sex in front of it.

I wrote you a simple, basic post about the subject on how I see it after your vague, porn<->sex post. And this is your response^ to me. But of course, what ever I write here, I am the sarcastic, cynical one with too much hubris, right? I don't know which you like more, Zorn. Those Shoe posts you enjoy complaining about or just the complaining about Shoe posts in general whatever they are.
