The German city has stepped up security measures for a five-day festival after hundreds of women reported being assaulted there on New Year’s Eve.

There's a lot of nationalist propaganda out there trying to paint the worst picture, even manufacturing it entirely, of the migrants in europe. But this attack in cologne was real and very serious. It shows that just accepting tons of migrants without following the standard migration procedures is not gonna  end up in a cohesive and functional multicultural society just like that, but rather is the beggining of a hard process that may end up in that positive result or fail. The way this attacks were ignored by the media and authorites and the way it is downplayed and even denied by certain people show the other side of the coin of toxic ideology: on one side you got the nationalists and their xenophobia on the other you got the open border advocates with their soft bigotry of low expectations and their denial and apologism of the problems the migration is causing

Quite the horror fest ;-(  The Germans will probably devolve into cannibalism, and Merkel will be first into the sauerbraten (sarcasm ... but stupid people really need to extinct themselves without taking the rest of us down with them ... but tis to dream).

Unfortunately, the Germans are learning the harsh realities the hard way. It was one thing for West Germany to help out their brothers and sisters when the wall fell down. It's an entire different matter to take in refugees with a culture totally alien to theirs. They needed to filter out the undesirables, and not accept just anyone showing up at their borders. Also, have the necessary infrastructure in place to handle them : a well organized school system to educate on the local language, culture and laws; a center of employment to give quick access to jobs; and a large security force to make sure those who step out of line are quickly dealt with severe penalties. The German authorities seem to be inadequately prepared, and so their gesture of generosity is lost on these less than grateful refugees.
