16-year-old Muslim teen’s death is being investigated as a possible hate crime after he was thrown out of a 6th floor building Saturday (December 5).

The family of Hamza Warsame says that the teen died from his injuries after being beaten and thrown out of a 6th floor window in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. They also claim that the people involved in his death are students from  Seattle Central College, the school Warsame attended.

Since the death of the Somali student, many have taken to social media to protest the lack of media coverage and less interest in investigating the death of Warsame. A Facebook page was created in honor of Warsame called Justice4Hamza, while many are showing support for the slain student on Twitter. A fellow Somali student is also challenging Seattle Central College for not notifying students in a timely manner of Warsame’s death.

Dunno if thats reverse sarcasm, but you might want to check your statistics on the number of gays murdered and still murdered in the middle east compared to the numbers of muslims killed in the west.

This Muslim kid was killed by radicals of a Western ideology that promotes sexism, racism and violence. This PROVES that Western culture is, at it's heart, a violent ideology and the silence of the Western world against this violence proves that all Westerners are either terrorists or condone terrorism. These weren't extremists; a large percentage of the Western world completely agrees with their radical acts but just don't act on them. Yes... there are "moderate" Westerners... but they do nothing about the West's treatment of minorities... of it's terrorism and wars across the world... so you "moderates" are just terrorist and violence sympathizers. Sure... you SAY this is terrible... but you aren't doing anything about it. Talk is cheap.

So after doing a little digging it looks like no one knows what happened.  From what I could find, they don't know if this is a murder or a suicide.  If there is any evidence, the police haven't release it to the public.  His sister is asking people to let the police do their job and to please quit speculating.

Shame we will never know because if it was murder it will just be swept under the rug and lost like countless other murdered boogieman-of-the-day minorities. Nor does it change that the initial reaction was "don't try to make it into something its not". That is just as bad as the event itself.

Especially, after a rash of Islamic terrorism such as we had throughout the west, the media will be watching closely for any Muslim death that might suggest retaliatory measures are taking place, not because they want to be fair and balanced, not because they want to show Americans in a bad light, not because they can even identify the story as anti-Muslim.  Because the media loves to report violence and conflict.  An all out war would be preferred, but a retaliatory reaction on the order of the Paris shootings would be manna from Heaven.   The media has a vested interest in perpetuating the story.

Reminds me of another thread on this forum about Shaima Alawadi who was beaten to death, and everybody including the media was thinking of hate crime, and it turned out that it was her husband all along.

See; Joseph's thread on hate crimes against Jews and how they are more or less never discussed, the lack of coverage of a mosque with people inside being firebombed and the media sayinh, "meh..." or the lack of coverage about the many African Americans wrongly killed by police officers ( at least we are making a little progress here).

I sympathise Shiranu, but I generally stay out of the bashing threads. You're correct about the double standard here. . It's a bit like reading how backward everyone in Texas or South Carolina is, but when you live in these places you find out that the ranting nonsense online never seems to jive with the reality.
