You shouldn't act like such an idiot, people might start mistaking you for one.

African Americans are portrayed a certain way in the media; Asian Americans are portrayed a certain way in the media. It's typecasting (you know, where an actor or actress is assigned similar roles and often struggles to get something different because they are considered the appropriate "look" for the role) on a racial level, and if you don't think that exists... then you clearly know about as close to literally nothing about the movie industry as you can get.

This is not a "new" problem, it's something African Americans and especially Asian Americans have been dealing with for decades. It's something that even the industry has admitted at times is a problem.

I mean honestly... it's one thing to not share an opinion on the cultural relevance of a movie, and another to start denying that racism within the movie industry exists (and if you point that out, you are somehow the racist).

You are just like the SJWs you criticise, though thankfully just like them, people like you are largely irrelevant in the real world when it comes to these issues.

The Florida Project  5/10  (96% at Rotten Tomatoes)

A depressing snap shot of American life on the other side of the tracks on a low budget.  I think it's fairly accurate portrayal of poor parenting, kids out of control, and conning others, but I can't say it's my first choice in subject matter.  I'm perplexed by Rotten Tomatoes once again.  I've encountered these types of people on a few occasions in my life, and it's not about people I want to hang with or even watch.  The acting was very good.  The script seemed a bit cobbled together, and I admit, I couldn't stop watching it, but I have to wonder who really needs this?

I enjoyed this, but I don't know what happened.  I don't think the other people in the theater did either.  It's one of those mystery themes that is designed to be illusive, but I don't think understanding is possible.  This was the same director that made Ex Machina, but not near as good or thought provoking, I didn't think.  Interesting visuals kept my attention.

I enjoyed this, but I don't know what happened.  I don't think the other people in the theater did either.  It's one of those mystery themes that is designed to be illusive, but I don't think understanding is possible.  This was the same director that made Ex Machina, but not near as good or thought provoking, I didn't think.  Interesting visuals kept my attention.

When I saw the trailer for Annihilation, I loved the premise.  There's some crazy anomaly - this shimmering field and everything inside the field is strange; physics don't physics, life is bizarre, etc.  Nothing makes sense.  The mystery of it all is incredibly fascinating.

Then, it's a straight up action film set 2 minutes to doomsday.  I mean, why have a mystery when you can have When Animals Attack: Mutated Alligator edition, amirite?  *overwhelming disappointment*

The movie reminds me of Sphere except even more poorly written.  Maybe I'm wrong, but I had a pretty intensely negative first impression which is such a shame because I think that the mysterious anomaly premise (sans mutated alligator) has a lot of premise.
