I just realised how much people of faith are misled by their leaders by the fallacy of misusing Appeals to Athoritative sources to what is the truth. The first thing they do is teach children to never question authority because it is given to them by divinity and can't be wrong.  No wonder our world is so fucked up!

What is wrote to me:
The article mentions the Sokal Hoax. Makes me wonder about Global Warming
science. Thanks. A good article. I'm keeping it in a folder. We tend to support those things we have a stake in and those things we believe in. Even
though they may not be true.

This is what I wrote back to him:

The Sokal Hoax was not a peer reviewed hypothesis, nor a theory with
good evidence to support it, and it was scientists that showed that it
was a hoax. Because of the way science operates, it prevents bad
scientists and bad science, unlike mere speculation without, good
evidence, which is why mere speculation is not allowed in a court of
law.

Science and scientists is self correcting, science has unethical
people too, but they are found out by science and scientists, even the
ones that are just wrong, like the first man that talked about
evolution, or even the first theory of gravity that Einstein and other
scientists showed was not quite correct, even though it is still used
today to keep our satellites timers correct.

Global warming is agreed upon by all scientist evolved in the subject
and peer reviewed. The overwhelming evidence supports it, and the fact
that it is man made. Global warming is not about the weather, even
though it effects it. Logically to compare global warming to a Hoax is
a fallacy in logic because it is comparing apples to oranges among
others,

like The Misusing Appeals to Authoritative Sources, that
support a conclusion by appeals to documents (Bible) generally held
beliefs, or the mere opinions of well-known persons (Big business
interests, religious leaders etc.) that are not particularly germane
or qualified to deal with the point at issue. It is also a Non
Sequitur in logic.
There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.
