It seems like different kinds of shows come and go in popularity. When those pawn shows become boring, they'll intensify the ghost-hunting programming. When those become a drag once more, they'll be back to UFO marathons.

Think I'd rather watch this presentation about the Bible...

I'm sure Leo would agree.

Quote from: "The Dude"My buddy told me the one time they tried just going straight history for a while with the WWII tapes and the documentaries, their rival networks blasted them calling them the "Hitler Channel". So they're really doing the best they can. It's a ratings game.

I know what you're saying about the business aspect is dead-on true -- "The Hitler Channel" was a common gag in SoCal, not just among industry people either --but it's awful to think that the public doesn't care enough enough about non-modern non-European history to fill out a schedule.

All tv caters to the common denominator. That's why you shouldn't be watching be any. There's plenty of interesting material out there, but it usually won't be on the television.

Start caring because PBS is fucked.

Whether it is history or any other show the commercial media is all crap now and it has been turned into a propaganda machine. For a while the History Channel  was doing some fairly good shows although they were never as reliable as other sources on any given subject. One of the series that tehy did that was fairly good was the one about lost civilizations based on archaeology but that has been gone for at least five or six years if not closer to ten.

the Ancient Aliens show was so full of misinformation like when they guy with the funny hair said he went into the pyramid and his lighter went out because there wasn't enough oxygen for it to work; and he kept on breathing because he didn't need oxygen.

They still didn't explain how they moved the ancient megaliths even if the info they did present was all crap though.

A bit about enlightened Christians not taking the parts of the Bible where you have to divide people's ages by 10 as historical.

Actually I have some good news. :-D

"Last Sunday, the first installment of History's five-part miniseries The Bible beat everything on television with a massive 13.1 million viewers, making it cable's most-watched entertainment telecast this year. " :-D

Isaiah 55:9 "As high as the sky is above the earth are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Interesting. I hope someone out there is doing a bit of research to see how many people lose their faith because of this and how many find it because of this.

And then another one when the series is screened for biblical accuracy. Any news on how accurate the series is to the bible?

Haven't watched it yet, but even with only the trailers in mind I can already say that it is not very accurate. But hey, the world is not perfect. What matters is that the word goes out.

Interesting things you believe in if "getting the word out" is more important than "getting the right word out".

I don't, but like I said, you can't have the best of both worlds.
