Should we continue to pursue virtual reality?

How do we know so called reality isn't a very sophisticated virtual reality that our mind creates from data received, just like it does from a computer?  Holy crap, God is an infinite computer, simulating the universe, that we create.  Are we not gods? Ha! Ha! Ha! I'm done here, going to play Mass Effect 2 that I finally got to work again. Yeah! Love that three part series. Awesome!

If VR became to brain-machine interface instead of just sensory input (goggles, screen, keyboard, mouse, etc.) I think I would only stop using the VR to sustain my body before going back to the VR world again. When I grew up, I spent way too much time playing computer games and well into my adult life. Only in recent years have I, more or less, started to play less and only recreationally.
