It's fairly obvious what the deal is with guys like Hovind.

Beside their attempts to portray science as biased and not knowing what it's doing, they're trying to redefine the scientific method itself...at least in the minds of the layman. They're trying to redefine what scientific qualifications are and often make it sound like legit scientists are no more qualified than any average, uneducated idiot, like themselves... thus leading to the conclusion that untrained and biased Theists can do just as good a job... yeah riiiiight!

So assholes like Hovind publish their bullshit and claim peer review (meaning their own private club of self-proclaimed, cerial-box-degree-holding pretenders), then claim some conspiracy by mainstream science is trying to hide their "truth." Yet they never come up with one good reason science would do that. They're "playing scientist" and doing a absolutely pathetic job at faking it. So the solution, to them, is to convince the public that the real scientists are the fakers and they are the real deal. Fortunately it's not working. They know damn well they're wrong which is why they tell the same old bullshit over and over again, even though they have been confronted and corrected numerous times with actual fact... they just figure, "Aw heck... this guy knows better so let's move on to someone more accommodating to our "point of view" (read gullible). They think it's OK to lie, cheat or steal as long as it's "in the service of the Lord."

What they're doing is pure revisionism. That old Nazi principal that if you tell a lie enough times, people will begin to accept it.

You couldn't be more wrong.  Mr Hovind is in it for the money.  He used to make a lot of cash by getting people to pay him to speak at churches and religious events.  Mr Hovind knows what he's saying is wrong, but telling the truth wont get loads of gullible followers to hand over huge wads of cash for his books and videos.
