Saudi Historian: U.S. Women Drive Because They Don't Care If They're Raped
QuoteA Saudi Arabian historian trying to justify the nation's ban on female drivers says women who drive in other countries such as the United States don't care if they're raped and that sexual violence "is no big deal" to them."

Saleh Al-Saadoon claimed in a recent TV interview that women can be raped when a car breaks down, but unlike other countries, Saudi Arabia protects its women from that risk by not allowing them to drive in the first place, according to a translation posted online by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

"They don't care if they are raped on the roadside, but we do," Al-Saadoon said on Saudi Rotana Khalijiyya TV.

“Hold on. Who told you they don’t care about getting raped on the roadside?” asked the host, a woman who is not named in the transcript.

“It’s no big deal for them beyond the damage to their morale,” Al-Saadoon replied. “In our case, however, the problem is of a social and religious nature.”

Yes, I do know.

Sunni are also permitted to lie, dissimulate, deceive if it is in the service of Islam.
Just like you are doing it now.

Qur'an (16:106) -
Qur'an (3:28) -
Qur'an (9:3) -
Qur'an (2:225) -
Qur'an (66:2) -
Qur'an (3:54) -
(See also 8:30 and 10:21)

Taken collectively these verses are interpreted to mean that there are circumstances when a Muslim may be "compelled" to deceive others for a greater purpose.

Reliance of the Traveler (p. 746 - 8.2) - "Speaking is a means to achieve objectives. If a praiseworthy aim is attainable through both telling the truth and lying, it is unlawful to accomplish through lying because there is no need for it.  When it is possible to achieve such an aim by lying but not by telling the truth, it is permissible to lie if attaining the goal is permissible (N:i.e. when the purpose of lying is to circumvent someone who is preventing one from doing something permissible), and obligatory to lie if the goal is obligatory... it is religiously precautionary in all cases to employ words that give a misleading impression...

Is Islam compatible with democracy?

QuoteTo quote the 20th century cleric, Sayyid Qutb, "It is Allah and not man who rules.  Allah is the source of all authority, including legitimate political authority.  Virtue, not freedom, is the highest value.  Therefore, Allah's law, not man's, should govern the society."

QuoteAs another cleric, Sufi Muhammad, recently put it, "True Islam permits neither elections, nor democracy."
