If you could only choose one, which would it be?

I would go for empiricism. Experience is needed to do Almost everything

But not everything.
A dark cloud looms over.
Festive cheer does not help much.
What is this, "Justice?"

But, without rationalism you cannot put those experiences into good use. Anecdotes become perfectly valid as evidence. You have no logic to help determine reality (as logic is part of rationalism). You have no math to help make sense of things (as math is also a part of rationalism). You have different experiences from different people, and no way to tell which one is more reliable.

Empiricism would keep me alive enough. As long as there is no pain, everything is safe. It's similar to how animals act.
