Just like on my thread about the cleric who got caught with child pornography on the Cloud. More concern was shown in the comments about the lack of security of stored data than about a pedophile clergyman. If we've become so able to gloss that over, we are in trouble.

Exactly, there's always a deflection that people seem to just accept without any question.

The Scottish cardinal I mentioned in the OP admitted his 'deviancy' the other day, and they interviewed people at the church he used to preside over.

Some people just said they were shocked, but quite a few (from the coverage) either said he was a good man or that they didn't believe it! Cognitive dissonance or what!

I guess that's the power of faith!

This is what happens when people who are born gay are forced to deny their nature. They either come out and deal though the pressures, commit suicide or become priests.

Or as one anti-gay bigot friend of mine observes, "Suicides among gays, prove that their thoughts and actions are sinful."
