Hello everybody ! As a hardcore reader of articles about history on Wikipedia and other sites I realised that we need maps.
Why do we need maps ?

Example 1 : If you want to know how Ottoman Empire (Ottoman Turkish : دوÙ,,تِ عَÙ,,يه عُثÙ...انيه) expanding itself over years you need a map. Also it help us to understand the spreading of colonialism in middle east after the abolition of caliphate in "March , 3rd , 1924".

Example 2 : If you want to understand the current situation in Ukraine you need to see a map that show its fruntiers over the historical periods.
You need to know that before "Ukraine" (Ukrainian : Україна) wasn't Ukraine because it was a part of USSR (Russian : СССР) before December , 26th 1991.
Also , you need to know that a part of Poland was annexed to it in 1939 in the same way that Bucovina etc... (a part of historical Romania) was integrated to Ukraine in 1940. Before being a part of "Ukrainain Soviet Socialist Republic" (Ukrainian : Українська Радянська СоціалісÑ,ична Республіка , Russian : Украинская СовеÑ,ская СоциалисÑ,ическая Республика) Bucovina was a part of "Kingdom of Romania".
(Romanian : Regatul României).

Example 3 : If you want to know how does work geopolitical today you need a world map. Unhappily for example 1 and 2 this is easy to find local map of these periods but this is not easy to find any world map. Therefore I would like to know a website to find historical world maps since ancient world until today.

We 'new atheists' have a reputation for being militant, but make no mistake  we didn't start this war. If you want to place blame put it on the the religious zealots who have been poisoning the minds of the  young for a long long time."

These are the maps I use planning trips. Only in the West, unfortunately. Very good maps, however.

You're not going to need a map intervention or something are you?

In case you doubt, here is the back wall of my office. The black and white map is an aerial photo of the City Of Rocks, a national landmark in Southern Idaho.

Well, I am not as big into maps as you are... but as the son of a social studies/geography teacher and majoring in anthropology, maps are something I do have to deal with with some frequency :P.

Yeah, my tech savvy children chide me because I travel with a gaggle of maps, but when you are planning a trip from 1,500 to 2,000 miles, pre locating fuel stops and campsites is a lot easier with a physical map because you can preplan and then use the computer and Google maps or whatever to figure distances. I spend many hours planning every tip we take, other than local campsites, which we know by heart.

My wife with MS can't abide much more than 150 miles without a break to stretch- her muscles cramp up and become very painful- so I figure every stop, coincide it with gas stops, meal stops and so forth. We also send for state information books that list motels and campsites so we can, if necessary, reserve ahead. I have it down to a science, other than knowing gas prices; I can generally estimate the cost of the trip within $100 or so.
