Every December I create a playlist of my favorite songs of the year. Here are three of my favorites from 2021.

The internet is simultaneously the best thing ever and a horrible mistake.

All I know is when youtube shows me a video titled "_____ but it's _____," I can NOT click that "Do Not Recommend This Fucking Channel" button fast enough.

I bet you pour regular milk on your cereal and eat it while reading the sports section of the newspaper.

I just did something I haven't done 30ish years. Made a recording of a vinyl album. Once upon a time in the days of reel to reel and cassette tapes this was a common thing for a consumer to do. That faded quickly into a niche for vintage audio gear as digital formats became more popular. New consumer market tape machines have all but gone extinct. But vinyl has refused to die and archiving your collection is something that interests a lot of people including me.

You can buy a turntable with a USB connection for recording your vinyl digitally, but most of that hardware isn't particularly high fidelity. Making a good recording requires a good analog to digital converter. I recently picked up a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and used it to record one of my albums today. I used Audacity, which is an open source audio studio type program, to rip the analog audio in a 24 bit 192 Khz rate, converted it to a lossless FLAC file, then converted that to 320 K MP3. I'm pretty happy with the results. Here is sample.

I probably won't leave this up long as I guess it is technically copyright infringement, but Youtube says it OK for now.

Writing some songs using 'virtual guitar' software. LH on the piano keys controls the strumming style while the RH forms chords. Guessing my songs are gonna get a harder edge now.
