(I gotta try so hard not to spam with music, but this is one of those things I get legitimately excited about and dork out over)

So there are (roughly) two branches of melodic dubstep; a more aggressive, heavily processed style with more high frequency movement that is much more popular and what you would recognize as dubstep... and then more "chillstep" dubstep which uses much softer sounds and basses that have most of their movement towards the low and mid-frequencies.

Blackmill was one of the pioneers of the more chillstep style, back when melodic dubstep wasn't even a thing and he (and producers like him) were making the genre from scratch. It's still more of a niche genre rather than mainstream, but so many modern producers still credit artists like Blackmill for really expanding what dubstep could be.

MitiS use to be absolutely amongst my favourite artists, and he has just recently started putting music out again as well as being on tour... his is a little more energetic than alot of Blackmill's, but still much closer to "chillstep" than anything else.

And just for the fun of it, and because it's one of those things that legitimately makes me cringe inside... this is just as much "dubstep" as the songs above... but I don't think anyone would argue they sound the same. It's like saying all country music sounds the same, or classical music, or whatever.

It is pretty--and I just discovered it too! :)  I had not heard of either Chillstep or Blackmill.  I guess it is time for me to set aside Kitero for awhile and focus on these two.  Thanks for the into, Shiranu.

Just an absolutely disgusting about of distortion on the bass and lead. I love it. The spacing of the sounds is insane as well... the way the bass will get a bit narrow at the end of each section and then burst back into wide-stereo. The sound design of this song is just beautiful.
