"Religious freedom" does not mean freedom for everyone to practice their own religion, it means freedom for Christians and Jews from governmental or social restrictions. "Religious freedom" is phrase designed to be deceptive. It's like "pro-life", which isn't about keeping people alive.

Oh man, now I remember why I really liked this show.  It was such utter camp!  Hilariously bad!

God, how much I hated that book. I was at the univ, everybody -including our students- was asking about 'if it is all true?'. LOL But Dan Brown has managed to make people, who I know haven't touched a book in their entire lives, read one cover to cover and even turn a few because of that.

(If you consider the apple story never took place with Newton, the whole thing is worse than that, lol. But I think that puzzle was about reaching Isaac Newton's name? If you can't reach that it is not really easy to end up with apple. Also, Langdon probably would be an art historian in real life. It's just art history is not a cool field, lol.)

I hated it too, but not because I read it. I didn't. It was because I was a Christian and found the premise to be offensive. Glad to know there's one thing I don't have to change my mind about. What about The Golden Compass? Is it crap too? lol

I loved the book.  Not because it was history or even totally accurate.  Mainly because it brought up religious topics that need to be discussed and examined.  And I found the writing to be good enough to keep me reading.

I don't know. It seemed to me that it rationalised theism and religion. As a thriller only, yeah sure, why not. I've watched the movie.

I guess something that fueled my love of the book was the reaction of my then very Catholic brother-in-law so much. :)))  Just seeing the book laying around irritated him--loved it.  It is interesting that since then, he has gone from studying to become a deacon in the church to a status I call 'recovering catholic'.  Much easier for me to be around him now.
