I don't really remember any of those early comics very well... but I do remember the stack of late-50s/early-60s MAD Magazines in the guest room at Grandma and Grandpa's that I was going through certainly by '66 or '67, when I was three or four.

Speaking of classic literature.  :D
I still have a couple of old (early 60's) Mad and one called Sick.  Tom Poston is featured in Sick.  Love them both.  I still like reading Mad.

I fear to think how much of my potential retirement could have been covered by all the comics my mom threw away...

I was lucky about that.  I had a steamer trunk full of them.  One day when I was off at college Mom told me to take them away or she would toss them.  Like I had space in the dorm for a steamer trunk.  Moms are so good at timing things to prevent choices...

So I collected the trunk and brought it to a comic dealer.  I showed him FF#1 beat up.  He showed me a dozen in perfect condition.

I got only 5 cents per comic, but I had a lot of them.  Fed me for a month.

I wish I still had them though.

I guess I learned to read with comic books, since that's the first thing I remember reading. Hell, I thought a man really could fly! I told God once that if he's let me be able to fly I'd believe in him. Well, I never could fly, so now I don't believe in God.

:-P

I fly in my dreams sometimes.  And my dreams are real.

I don't do unrealistic things in my dreams.  So they are "realer".

It's because of our moms that those comics are now valuable. :)
Dead bang.

Dead bang.

Yeah, that newish unblemished 1980s Avengers or Daredevil comic of my later years WOULD be worth something now I suppose.  On the other hand, that nickle I got, invested in index stocks (as I did eventually) would likely be worth more.
