Just watched Amazing Spider-Man 2

I'm picking up a larger trend from Marvel of demonizing transhumanism. Pretty much everyone who gets a power-up who isn't Spider-Man is portrayed as EVIL, and unlike the original series, they go through all kinds of weird plot voodoo to make the main villains look bad.

[spoiler]Sure, the Lizard killed Captain Stacey, but that was after he froze him with liquid nitrogen and tried to blow his head off with a freaking shotgun. He wasn't even trying to do anything that would kill people, he was just distributing transformation gas that would make people immortal. Yes, they'd look like lizards, but that's not something you kill people over.

Electro wanted to control the power grid. OMG so scary.

If Spider-Man just gave Harry Osborne his blood, the whole business with Gwen Stacey dying would have never happened. Harry was right, if he didn't get SOME form of treatment, then he'd die. So there wasn't any real risk in giving him some blood. Not to mention that they could have tested the blood's interaction with tissue samples before actually injecting him with it. There were a lot of options that didn't involve just leaving Harry to die or going YOLO and injecting him with it.

Plus, if the Green Goblin armor had magic injury healing powers, WHY THE FUCK DID NORMAN OSBORN NOT TRY THAT ON HIMSELF? Obviously, we can see from Harry's status at the end of the movie that the system works. God damn supervillains are dumb.[/spoiler]

I hate to tell you, guys, but Gwen Stacy dying is about as much of a spoiler as Peter Parker getting spider powers.

DYING IS THE ENTIRETY OF HER FUCKING CHARACTER. SHE HAS NO OTHER REASON TO EXIST EXCEPT TO DIE AND GIVE SPIDER-MAN A SAD.

It's not a spoiler. It would be a spoiler if she didn't die. Complaining about this is like complaining when someone tells you that Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader today.

The greatest movie experience I ever had was on Boot Furlough in San Diego. I was a Mormon boy who had never seen a naked woman. I had only a little bit of money and I went into a porn theater that a triple feature for $1. Black and white and grainy film, but sitting there watching 2 women go down on each other and then a hung black guy doing 2 white chicks. My life was forever changed.
