Sounds about equally reasonable as all the others, really.

Humans go to extraordinary means to try to convince themselves that they are not just smarter animals but specifically designed special creatures destined to be some part of a grand cosmic adventure that will make them at one itself with the universal designer........all this while they fight the urge to check out the floating turd to see if it is different from the last one, or to check the remnants of the toilet tissue to determine if enough scat has been rubbed from the anus. Yes, we are certainly not animals.
A humans desire to live is exceeded only by their willingness to die for another. Even god cannot equal this magnificent sacrifice. No god has the right to judge them.-first tenant of the Panotheust

Most religions claim they have some sort of ultimate truth.

They don't pass muster under scrutiny though.

Raelism isn't all that bad of a religion.

Sure, they're nuttier than a squirrel turd.  UFO religion combined with Intelligent Design (of all the things you could borrow from existing religions ](*,)  )

But, oddly enough, they're materialists through and through (so no God).  And their ethics aren't as terrible as we're used to.  Nonviolence.  Acceptance of masturbation and homosexuality.  And unlike some people, they excommunicate pedophiles.  It's sad to say, but that's better than the norm.

I don't know.  Judging by their symbol, you have to be a Jewish Nazi.

Don't think I qualify.

Sure, technically they are naturalists, but as they believe in alien encounters, intelligent design and telepathy, they are a far cry from mainstream naturalism. Christians 1) need not believe in alien encounters, 2) need not embrace intelligent design, 3) can be neutral on the issue of telepathy.

Truthfully, other than the religious aspect and the wack job they dress up as leader, this isn't all that far from mainstream liberal viewpoints. don't see anything dangerous, but shit happens and cults can change.

Yeah, no kidding.  Hence my word choice.

QuoteChristians 1) need not believe in alien encounters, 2) need not embrace intelligent design, 3) can be neutral on the issue of telepathy.
1)  Actually, there's a surprisingly large number of Christians who do believe in aliens.  2)  In the US, the main supporters of Intelligent Design (aka cdesign proponentsists) have been Christians.  3) Indeed, they can be neutral on telepathy, with quite a few going well beyond neutrality into what sure looks like belief.  (Those opposed to telepathy are likely to stick to less kooky practices like prayer.)

In summary, don't get too high and mighty.  The kinds of things that Christians sadly often believe aren't terribly removed from Raelist nuttiness.

Just another delusional belief that humans are the end of intelligent design by aliens instead of the cosmic imperative (evolution).    Considering how some babies are screwed up from birth their scientist need to go back to the drawing board. Why would they teach religion that has caused so much pain and suffering in the world instead of science?  And how about the tribes in the world that never had or don't have religion, did they forget them?   :rollin: Solitary
There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.

What does whether Christians have to believe in something have to do with whether Raelism is preaching truth?

Oh, nothing at all.

Preaching rarely has any connection to truth, and when it does it's a negative connection.  (IOW, if you're preaching you're lying.)
