Quote from: "AllPurposeAtheist"No doubt about it..video games turn men into flaming drag queens which by the way I might add is against gods will.

Videothians 9:54 He who shall playith video games shall become a flaming drag queen and god is extremely homophobic.

Always with the contradictions in the bible.... there are so many that it is really getting unbearable.

Videothians 9:62 says "He shall playith videogames and will find himself partying with Himself."

Why would the bible say we shouldn't play video games in one part and a few sentences later, it says we should?  Bullshit. Just don't play Mario Party. Your hands will bleed as foretold in Videothians 9:10 "He, that plays tug of rope with King Koopa will be punished with wounds of the hands."  Amen

Videothians ought to be a real book of the Babble.. :)
All hail my new signature!

Admit it. You're secretly green with envy.

I think I misworded that; 20% of anorexic/bulimics are male.

And it's in the video, which is a PBS product, so I would assume it's accurate.

Quote from: "SGOS"The War on Video Gaming is pretty much over I think.
Yeah.  The funny thing is that it's not really because of any major change in people, it's simply that gaming finally became a mainstream activity.

QuoteGames are quite tame compared to the sex and violence on TV and movies, but for those who haven't really looked at them, they became an imagined portal through which children passed from innocence to a world of violent crime and forced prostitution.
But they do sorta have a point in that videogames are generally very centered around killing/t&a.  Obviously, there are plenty of games that aren't like that, but the AAA offerings are generally pretty fixated on it.

I mean, when little Johnny wants his mom to buy him something like that, I don't fault her for thinking that video games are trashy.

QuoteThe men are brawny and the women are voluptuous.  Oh, my!  Oh, my!  You see, it's a fantasy that's a bit too cartoonish to be taken seriously.
The bikini chainmail trope is really starting to grate on me.

That is ridiculous!  Suspension-of-disbelief-breaking bad.

That's okay.  You can do sexy without going the stripperware route.[/spoil:wh9yx06r]

Most AAA movies are the same, I think. And so is most television, unless it's reality TV in which case it's usually just cheap rubbish.

People like violence and special effects. It's easy and you don't have to think much.

The chain mail outfits are kind of interesting, but probably wouldn't work in anything than video games, which lets face it, are mostly about wiping out bad guys.  It's just video game dress up, hardly porn, but somewhat suggestive.  Have you watched a daytime soap recently?  I haven't, but it seemed like they were headed for R ratings 10 years ago.

There was a scene in an episode where Marge and Homer Simpson were watching TV in the living room.  Marge wasn't at all alarmed, but simply turned to Homer and said, "I can't remember when the Fox Network started putting porn into all of its shows."  Both of them were just watching TV with the mild boredom most people display when watching TV, kind of just waiting for the next commercial.  I thought it was funny and I thought it addressed the loosening of TV censorship over the years.

I can understand some people's concern about their kids, but I read most gamers are over 30.  About the most provocative thing I've seen is the strip club in GTA III, but the women manage to keep their bottoms on.  I could understand people wanting to shield their kids from that, but GTA isn't representative of most other games I've played.  I'm looking forward to IV to see if they come up with anything new.

As for do video games hurt men?
Anyone that says they can't/wont, hasn't played Mario Party on N64.

LOL, yeah. Those joystick spinning were a shitty shit design choice.

It's actually more like 10-15% according to ANAD.

Yeah, I mean it is fantasy, after all.  I guess I shouldn't be too hard on the practice.  But on the other hand, I'm having a hard time picturing an adventuring party's heroic last stand against the Worldeater clad entirely in lingerie.  It just sorta seems out of place.

Either way, that is far more believeable. The way it was worded before meant that 1 in 5 of all men have an ED which would be a bit extreme.
