QuoteGenetics allowed proteins "to become flexible, thereby gaining a world of new molecular functions."
They always word it in such a way that theists misinterpret it.  The wording seems to say that genetics came about so as to allow proteins to become flexible, which is about the opposite of what they're saying - that once genetics came about, genetic organisms had a huge advantage over non-genetic organisms and (probably, of course - I closed my eyes for a second in the time machine and missed it) quickly outreproduced and outcompeted them.

It wouldn't matter. Either the theists would say, "God created genetics that allowed proteins to become flexible..." Or, "God created genetics to have huge advantages over non-genetic organisms..."

The bottom line is always: God...diiittt.

That kind of nonsense can always be countered by "evidence that this god exists ... ho hummmmm".  The sloppy wording that seems to say that genetics is goal-oriented gives them a pseudo-scientific claim to nonsense.
