Quote from: "Agramon"She was luckier than Kim Chol, vice minister of the army, who was executed with a mortar round in October 2012.

Kim Chol was reportedly executed for drinking and carousing during the official mourning period after Kim Jong-il's death.

I don't know why I'm shocked. I'm surprised they haven't made someone try and run through an obstalce course of death a-la The Last Crusade for the amusement of onlookers.

Quote from: "Atheon"As monstrous as the Kims are in North Korea, it seems this report may be bogus. Let us hope so.

He looks like young Jack Kennedy Jr saluting his father's casket at the funeral in the photo on that page.

People here are confusing Syria and North Korea as if one is related to the other. The Syrian government is using GAS to kill anyone that opposes the government. That is an immediate threat to humanity. It's mass murder and MUST be dealt with. No Syria isn't a immediate threat to the USA but it is an indirect threat to the economy of the world, not to mention the inhumanity of the regime.
North Korea is a nation that is ruled by corruption and inhumanity, but it isn't GASING thousands of it's people. It isn't a direct threat to the USA and is of no consequence to the world economy. The missile developemnt there is being closely monitored and will be dealt with when it is necessary I assure you.
The ideal situation is for South Korea to deal directly with North Korea.
There is no proxy to deal with Syria. Therefore it is up to the civilized nations of the world to come together and deal with Syria.

NK isn't using gas to kill their people.  They use mortar rounds, machine guns, and starvation.  That's different you see and is apparently not an immediate threat to humanity like it would be if they used gas.

No what NK is doing to its own people is arguably a lot worse, if we can form a ranking scale of 'bad things to do against your own civilians'.

Also, If reports are to be believed from defectors, NK is using gas on its own people, as well as a lot of other things:

Compared to the gulags in NK, Syria is a paradise.

Mister Agenda

Quote from: "Hijiri Byakuren"Not to sound callous, but does anything North Korea does honestly surprise anyone these days?
It's like it's government is actually made up of just one guy, and he's insane.

I think that's explicitly the form of government outlined in their consitution.

Mister Agenda

People are subjected to tortures in North Korea's prison camps that don't exist anywhere else in the world.
