The Skeletal Atheist

So here's a topic for posting news stories of people being complete dumbasses. Here be Darwin awards and people who generally shouldn't contribute their genes to the next generation.

I'll start off with this delightful story - Man tries to rob a gun store with a baseball bat and a knife.

Quote from: "Total Fucking Dumbass"BEAVERTON, Ore. - You've heard the old saying 'don't bring a knife to a gun fight.'

Well how about a bat? Apparently, that doesn't work too well either - just ask 22-year-old Derrick Mosley.

Sheriff's deputies say Mosley walked into Discount Gun Sales on Southwest Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway around 4 p.m. Thursday with a bat in hand and smashed a display case.

But they say when Mosley tried to steal a gun, the store manager simply pulled out his own personal firearm and pointed it straight at the would-be-robber. The manager then yelled some orders at the guy and got him to drop the baseball bat, the gun he had tried to take and a nine-inch long knife he had on him.

When sheriff's deputies arrived, they found Mosley on the floor being held at gunpoint by the manager.  They handcuffed Mosley on the spot and took him into custody on charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree theft, unlawful possession of a firearm and second-degree criminal mischief. Bail was set at $250,000.

Take your stinkin' links off me, you damn dirty ape!

The guy will probably be selected for jury duty for his own trial and when they call the defendants name he'll say, 'Here!'
That actually happened several years back.
All hail my new signature!

Admit it. You're secretly green with envy.

I have another one:

Quote from: "Fucktard #2"A New York business owner was targeted by local police after they became suspicious of his store. As a result, they sent in an undercover informant on two separate occasions who ultimately hurt them a lot more than he helped.

On the second visit, the informant allegedly planted and photographed crack cocaine, which led to the arrest of store owner Donald Andrews Jr.

Andrews operates a "smoke shop" in Scotia that sells incense and other smoking paraphernalia that can easily be used for other illicit activities.

Andrews' attorney, Kevin Luibrand, narrated a video that was shot by in-store surveillance cameras that appears to show the informant planting and photographing the crack.

"He comes in [and] places the crack on the counter," Luibrand said. "Crack, which under federal sentencing guidelines, would get him 4 years in jail. Under New York State law would get him 2 to 7 years in jail."

There are seven cameras in plain view in Andrews' small store.

Andrews was released after he got police to look at the multiple angles that his cameras captured. The informant has fled. He is facing perjury and possession charges.

"With an informant like this, he will lie and plant things and he can't really be trusted," said Robert Outlar, of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

A 43-year-old man was arrested Friday after he allegedly went to police to complain that a disabled woman who concocted a Medicaid fraud scheme wasn't giving him his fair share of the proceeds. Brian Borry, of Dwight Street in Plainville, told police he worked as a personal care assistant to the woman, according to a release from the state Division of Criminal Justice. He and the woman submitted 27 fraudulent billings to the state, according to the release. They claimed that Borry worked more than twice as much as he actually worked, and he was paid $15,065 for about $6,600 worth of work, the release states. The woman allegedly deposited the checks and paid Borry. But Borry went to Plainville police because he wasn't getting as much money as he thought he should, the release states.

The Personal Care Assistance program, which is funded by Medicaid, provides money so disabled adults can hire assistants to care for them at their homes. Borry was arrested by inspectors from the Medicaid fraud control unit of the Office of the Chief State's Attorney. He faces charges including first-degree larceny by defrauding a public community, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny and insurance fraud. He could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison if he is convicted. More arrests are expected, the release states.
