There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.

People are really stupid.

I've actually never seen anyone try a game like this here. Not sure whether it's illegal or people just don't fall for it, but it simply doesn't happen.

I've seen three-card monty games in a few places, like on a bus in Miami. You can beat the dealer if you know how.
We 'new atheists' have a reputation for being militant, but make no mistake  we didn't start this war. If you want to place blame put it on the the religious zealots who have been poisoning the minds of the  young for a long long time."

Does it involve a blunt object? :D

Nope, but you need at least one person to cover your back, because the dealer usually has unobvious muscle around to deal with wiseguys. That taken care of, you go with the usual routine, winning several times because the dealer "accidentally" bends a corner of the ace. The show down comes when he palms the bend ace and you're present with three identical cards. At that point you pin down the middle card and have him turn over the other two. As they're not aces (and neither is the one you're holding down, of course) you declare that the pinned card is the ace and collect.

Miami PD taught me that one.

That doesn't work with the way the guy in the video plays it, though. He actually keeps the winning card on the table, so even if you pin a card down you'll probably still lose.

It's far more convincing as well, because he'll actually flip over the winning card to prove it's still on the table.

There are variations on the game, of course. But remember that stage magicians run the same kind of con, sans money of course.
