Don't exaggerate. It's on 2000[sup:ydkm3v03]0[/sup:ydkm3v03]C.

A lot of good.this does me. I was thinking of going to such a planet, but wind gets to me.

2.9 million miles from its parent star? That's pretty useless..
All hail my new signature!

Admit it. You're secretly green with envy.

Too close? You can't be too choosy.

As soon as someone invents a warp drive, we can go see it.

That would be cool. But beaming down is not an option I think.....

And when we go see it, how do we actually get down there?

Also, teleportation wont work for a few reasons:
-If we teleport by sending streams of atoms, then the wind there will knock 'em all away
-We need to set up a receiver on the surface, and we can't because of the winds

Also, it wont work because it's raining molten glass!

Ouch. :(

No religion for me thank you very much; I 'm full of shit enough as it is.

Being flabbergasted about existence never made anyone disappear in a poof of flabbergas, so nevermind why we're here. We ARE here.

In spite of the terrible conditions, wouldn't this still be termed an "Earthlike" planet?

2,000 degrees?  4,500 mph winds?  Air filled with silicate particles?  Mars is a lot more "Earthlike".  An Earthlike planet is one that's within the habitable temperature range for Earth life, and has conditions close to what we'd need to live on the surface unprotected.

No, the only comparison to Earth is that the planet is blue.  It's more like a hot Jupiter (which is what planets like this are called).
