My sister went to China a couple of years back and said the air pollution in the cities was horrendous.  China is doing what Britain did in the 1700s - but I'd have thought that they'd have done their homework on how to manage an industrial revolution without fucking things up.  Apparently not....  :-k

And the per capita income in China is tiny compared with the west so what do you tell Chinese who live in the north and who earn barely enough to afford to eat? Move south? It's not as if there's plenty of open space there. China by and large has gone from peasant farmers to industrial powerhouse in about the time London went from Monty Python on TV to now.. It squeezed 1700 London into 2013 in about 30 years. The alternative? Let's hear it..
