Not sure what to think about this.  I linked Forbes and Bloomberg articles.

QuoteThe Obama administration has decided to delay the implementation of Obamacare's employer mandate—the requirement that all firms with 50 or more employees offer health coverage, or pay steep fines—until 2015. The mandate was supposed to go into effect on January 1, 2014.

good way for the effects to be delayed past the election so that people don't learn that the gOP scare tactics are bullshit.
I was hoping that that people would see the effects, and like it so that in november if 2014, the GOP gets spanked hard. Now they'll claim Obama is hiding the negative effects til after the election, THEN he'll take grandma to the death camps.

Or Obama isn't a progressive, doesn't have a spine and caves in to anything the conservatives ask him to, and then throws in a free t.v. so there are no hard feelings.

I think this is just a nasty cyclical problem. Health insurance is too expensive, reimbursements are dropping. What is the only positive? The profits of insurance companies magically increase at everyone else's expense. I know everyone will scream socialism but I think a huge way to start to solve this problem is by requiring all insurance companies to be non-profit. I know that is so anti-american, but it would make things so much more affordable for everyone. If insurance companies only had to cover administrative costs and reimbursements to providers, I think premiums would be so much lower. I feel like the prices charged by providers would become more reasonable in this case as well. Providers are always struggling to receive adequate reimbursement, and that decreases the quality of care for everyone.

Employers don't want to pay it.  It's a huge drain on profit.  So the burden is being shifted to taxpayers.  I don't oppose that, but the government should make sure the money is used exclusively on covering medial costs.  Private insurance companies need to be taken out of the equation completely so that taxpayers can get a fair return on the taxes they pay toward Obamacare.  It might not be fair to demand insurance be provided by all employers.  After all, private insurance just ends up milking them along with everyone else.  Single payer is the only equitable solution.  Anything else becomes a corporate windfall.

I think Obamacare is a really bad deal for taxpayers.  I can't believe the Democrats stood by and let this happen.

This is not directed to anyone: Insurance companies don't make a profit on the premiums, or loose money on losses, they make money and loose money on stocks, and then we pay higher premiums when they do. When they get sued for millions they never have to pay out the full amount. When they actually loose money it is because of bad investments using our money. It sounds like a lot of money to us when they pay out a billion dollars on claims, but they don't tell you they made 10 billion on investments. Obama care would be bad for business and investors, like doctors that invest in pharmaceutical companies that charge hospitals outrageous prices for equipment and supplies. There is no set price for surgeries for example that range from $4,000-$12,000 for the same operation.

And if you think non-profit organization like hospitals and clinics don't make money---think again. A good medical insurance cost around $12,000 a year that most CEO's and management get free while employees get paid less to make up for it. If our taxes from everyone is used to pay for insurance it would be cheaper for everyone to have coverage. The money from taxes for each individual would be less than $1,000 a month if everyone contributed by paying taxes. Some people would benefit more because they need it and many more would benefit less because they wouldn't need it. Why would this be wrong? Shouldn't we all contribute a little of our money to help people who can't afford a lot of money for insurance? Solitary

I'm with you guys that we needed something else, something better.

say universal healthcare and single payer, or whatever.
but this is better than what we had before, and it was all we could do to get this thing passed, and it will be all we can do to keep the GOP from dismantling even these very modest changes.

My hope is once americans realize healthcare for all doesn't mean forcing people to take the mark of the beast, dragging grandma to a concentration camp, or black people enslaving the white race, that they'll be more open to advancing to the next step, to true universal healthcare.
