Why the U.S. Has Two Right-Wing Parties

Really enjoy this channel, one of the concepts he talks about is the "Ratchet Effect"; when the GOP is in control of the government, the gears shift rightwards; Conservative judges, conservative policies, etc. ... but when the DNC takes charge, the gear is blocked from moving back towards the left as they themselves only fix the problems created at best half-way or "appeasing" conservative voters by meeting them half-way (or 4-5ths of the way). Once the GOP is back, the gear keeps on rotating right, and rinse and repeat.

I've always heard of the Pendulum swinging between the two parties, but this is honestly a much more accurate description of what is happening at a political level.

Also, Democrats tend to adopt "centrist" messaging to hypothetically peel away some conservative votes without alienating liberals too much, and the next election cycle, Republican messaging goes further to the right and don't seem to pay much political price for it, if any.

I don't think anything in the modern world has done more damage to actual leftist ideology, at least in the United States, than the Democrats continuing to pose as the "Left-Wing" party who compromises. Firstly, it's just objectively wrong (don't see too many Democrats calling for the abolition of the corporate system, do you?) and secondly people now associate the partisan divide on social issues as a Left/Right divide and pretty much define anything they don't agree with as "socialist".

If I didn't know better, I would think the system was intentionally built to give this false narrative to make people ignore the actual ones and that both parties are in on the game... /s

You are too correct. There is one divided party. But it's all good.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
I was watching a YT blogger who makes a living going to The Magic Kingdom and films his obese self eating fried Disney chicken tendies for $19 and washes it down with a half gallon carbonated sugar drink. Then he finds some donuts. In the background hundreds of the unmasked and manipulated waddle around like bloated ducks looking for stimulus. It's great. They are so happy. Is there a new deal on the horizon? Maybe. Isn't it time to eat again?

I've often wondered if I was the only one who noticed this.  We often hear Democrats (as opposed to liberals) saying, "If you think both parties are the same, then you haven't been paying attention," and I always think those Democrats aren't paying attention.  OK, OK, the parties are different.  They have different names, and different rhetoric, but both parties take us in the same direction.  Republicans just get there a little faster.

How does he define "right wing"?
How does he define "left wing"?

I agree the two parties are very much alike, but that says little about which wing they allegedly are.
