2020 has been the year of taking away nice things, so of course it couldn't fuck off without taking away PornHub.

QuotePornhub is currently in the process of deleting all unverified videos, a massive portion of its content library, before implementing a more thorough verification process in the New Year. It’s an unprecedented move for one of the largest porn sites in the world. You wouldn’t happen to know anything about it, would you? Videos that are not uploaded by official content partners or members of Pornhub’s model program will be removed pending verification and review beginning in 2021. “As part of our policy to ban unverified uploaders, we have now also suspended all previously uploaded content that was not created by content partners or members of the Model Program,” Pornhub said in an announcement. “This means every piece of Pornhub content is from verified uploaders, a requirement that platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, and Twitter have yet to institute.”

Prior to this decision, since Pornhub’s launch in 2007, anyone with basic computer literacy could upload any video they wanted, and trust us, they did. Before the content purge on Sunday night, Pornhub held around 13.5 million videos per its own metrics on the home page. As of writing Monday morning, the site shows a mere 2.9 million. The number appears to be fluctuating, per Vice, so it’s unclear what the final number will be.

The announcement comes after a piece in the New York Times Opinion section that followed the lives of child sexual abuse victims whose videos were uploaded to the platform was published Friday, December 4. It led to MasterCard and Visa beginning an investigation into illegal content on the site. On Tuesday, December 8, Pornhub banned all unverified users from uploading or downloading, and said it would expand its moderation. However, by the end of the week, MasterCard and Visa declared they would both stop processing payments on the site. Visa specifically dropped all of the MindGeek network, including Redtube, Youporn, Xtube, and Brazzers.

Pornhub’s decision is not a guaranteed method for preventing abuse of all kinds, including revenge porn, on the site, though it could significantly reduce it. Some amateur porn creators who use the site as a source of income disagree with the credit-card companies’ decision and worry about the industry should they begin to target smaller platforms. Meanwhile, OnlyFans has spent all of 2020 switchin’ them positions for you â€" peddling influencers like Bella Thorne who think they did it first and helping real people make bank during a pandemic.

EDIT FOR THE INTELLECTUALLY CHALLENGED
I am very happy that illegal content was removed from the site. I am frustrated that it took pressure from Visa and Mastercard to make that happen. I am mildly annoyed that good content got caught in the crossfire.

Meh, pornsites come and go. And if it does help against the spread of CP and revengeporn, I don't find it in me to be angry.

As for the lost good content. I doubt there will ever be a shortage of porn on the internet.

Are you fucking serious? Making porn is tied to every kind of illegal activity; from every kind of abuse, threat, underage content, forced sex labour to human trafficking. Just the nature of the industry is enough to be paranoid all the time. It's not far remotely a clean industry and the reason is this frame of mind of 'I don't give a damn what's happening as long as it's there ready for me to fap'. Just because it looks fine on the screen, doesn't make it OK in real life because it is NOT real. Nobody actually knows what's behind at making each piece, if not made under strict rules and environment.

If you love and care about porn, you should be happy about this kind of action and support it. Fuck off and use from the other verified millions of porn flicks to fap.

People being this cut out of realities of porn industry drives me mad. Because it's not stupidity or lack of understanding, is it? It's the willingness of not to understand what's really likely to be happening there. It's just sheer greed and selfishness. Porn is not a basic human right. It's a product you consume, you can survive without. And the moment there is a possibility you are overlapping others' basic human rights while consuming a product, you stay away from it and go to the responsible choice.

Of course, all that is workable considering you are not a lab rat in a 1950s neuroscience experiment.

Two largest traffics on the Internet ... junk email and porn.  Most Youtubes are junk video.

That is why all men have to be killed, because women are naturally virtuous ;-)

Did you buy products from China?  You are helping to murder Uiygers, Falung Gong, Hong Kong Democrats etc.  You are helping to subsidize the Chicoms who released Covid.  This is why virtue signaling is BS.  Every human being is baby Hitler.

I'm happy that the rape and child porn videos are gone. I'm upset that Pornhub could have handled those sooner (without drastic action) and didn't. They didn't even care until Visa and Mastercard pulled the plug. Instead they dismissed claims by the victims because the victims didn't hold the copyright to the videos, apparently having no problem with the illegal nature of said videos.

Don't get me wrong, I've always been pretty sure that some shady shit occasionally got uploaded and buried in the site, just like happens on YouTube, because on a site that big you obviously can't catch everything. That's why you have a report button, after all, so users who find something you missed can bring it to your attention. The fact that they ignored their own reporting system on the grounds of "copyright" boggles my mind. And now the proverbial baby is being thrown out with the bathwater because apparently basic human decency is too much to ask for.

How about you take the stick out of your ass and stop making assumptions about me, you presumptuous bitch.

I do object to ... real snuff films.  This should be illegal.  Also real pedophilia films (participants less than 18).  This should also be illegal.  But people must have witches to burn.  If Trump didn't exist, the moralizing puritans would find someone else to burn (and yes, Trump is a witch).

Yeah because you need to be a 'presemptuous bitch with a stick up your ass' to react to that OP. Riiight. I must be old, this is so fucking normal, I'm so far behind. And you wonder why they don't act sooner.

This is how this shit works. People generally don't care about reporting it when it comes to this particular content, and it gets ignored for a long time because nobody actually cares about removing it once it has become regular. That's the nature of this bucket.

Sorry couldn't pass. The fact that this boggles your mind concerning a porn site, esp. in a global pandemic, boggles my mind even more.

And those are the points I meant up there more than making an assumption about you. I didn't see you as someone consuming illegal content, I saw you as someone whining about the very wrong part of the whole thing. Because that's where your post points. That's all.

I'm sorry, I didn't think I needed to spell out the painfully obvious. Clearly I should not have expected you to be able to deduce that I, a normal and well-adjusted human being, am happy to see illegal content go bye-bye and am merely annoyed that some good stuff got caught in the crossfire. Next time I'll be sure to edit in the appropriate handholding that members of the faux-woke crowd like yourself seem to so desperately require.

You'd be surprised. I've looked in the comments section. There are undoubtedly tons of kink shaming people willing to report anything that doesn't fit their standards. I've never seen anything showing real abuse, but I imagine it would have been reported right away. It's up to the moderators to actually respond to those reports.

You could have written a few lines, anything is better than that^. Don't tell me there is nothing that push your buttons this way when you see it. It was an honest reaction.

By the way, how do you call someone like me woke...fake or real? I think you forget where I live. Woke...lol. Maybe I should take it as a compliment to look trendy...
