The Daoist alchemists were the smartest guys of their time.  Early Big Pharma.  120 years ago one took arsenic to control syphilis.

Yes.  Google is your friend.  All drugs, including legal prescribed ones, cause harm (this was argued years ago here, in direct contradiction to The Pill Book).  But arsenic caused less harm than syphilis.  That is the basis of all drugs and surgeries.
