If the headline didn't grab your attention, Satanists are involved in this story.

Do I have your attention now?

QuoteOLYMPIA â€" Spokane Valley Rep. Matt Shea is being billed $4,700 for the cleanup of olive oil he poured on the steps of the domed Legislative Building in early March, part of a Christian group's response to an earlier demonstration by Satanists who had marched around the building.

The oil was poured onto porous stones that form the steps and sidewalk around the domed structure that houses the Legislature and top executive offices, making it difficult to remove, according to the Department of Enterprise Services, which manages the Capitol grounds and buildings.

The gist of is that Satanists, having been excluded from giving religious invocation at the House and Senate - I'd assume that it's normally a Christian ceremony - decided to have their own invocation on the Capitol Building steps as a sort of protest and to highlight the pretty cozy church-state relationship.

State Rep Shea was counterprotesting with a Christian biker gang blowing ram horns (imagine seeing a procession of black-clad Satanists and they're not the craziest thing going on at the moment).  Shea apparently also was strangely compelled to pour olive oil on the steps, I guess to erase the unholy taint.  Absolutely flawless logic.  After his first attempt failied because someone with a brain prevented it, he came back for attempt #2 and that was successful.  Successful at ruining the stairs and causing an immediate slipping hazard.  Some poor custodian had to deal with it and imho he should have his salary doubled while Shea takes an equal pay cut.

If the name Shea sounds familiar, he's that guy who may have dabbled in light terrorism and penned "the Biblical Basis for War", in which he advocated replacing the government with a theocracy and killing all males during "holy" war.  You'll never guess his political affiliation.

His bio is truly a fascinating read into what, in most parts of the world, would be the lunatic ravings of some subway bum, but are instead the lunatic ravings of a politically powerful person who people actually voted for.  God Bless America.

The only bright spot in all of this is that he's apparently not running for re-election, having missed the deadline to file.  So unless that theocracy is coming soon, the only place this guy is putting olive oil is on salads.  Or as a dip for bread.  Lots of things, really.  Just not on porous stairs!

Bluto, Popeye, and Olive Oyl in a Mazola party? (Don't google that at work, kids.)

Most Leftists would support this ;-)

As for 100% shutdown of all religions ... gotta have Communism for that.  Even China allows religion if controlled by the CCP.

Baruch, there has never been a Communist country in the world. None of the ones that call themselves Communist have ever actually practiced Communism. And religion is not uncommon in any of them, either.

Besides, communism =/= secularism.  So that's all really besides the point.

It's very simple: government and any religious institutions should be entirely seperate.  Keep the religious rituals at their appropriate place.

Notice I mentioned China  ... it hasn't outlawed religion, just the kinds that are independent of the CCP.

This is the rhetorical dog whistle ....

There has never been a real democracy in the world.

There has never been a real socialism in the world.

There has never been a real monarchy in the world.

There has never been a real dictatorship in the world.

We need to try all of these, because when they were done in the past, they weren't done correctly ;-)

Nazism was a kind of socialism, but wasn't real Nazism, because the Nazis did it wrong ;-p

Not saying you personally are an authoritarian of some kind.  I am an authoritarian ... of some kind.  This is why you don't want me in charge ;-)

I totally agree on both points, actually.

Much like your hero, trump, it is difficult to know when you are lying or trying to tell the truth--it doesn't seem to matter of either of you.

He just types stuff and hits the post button. I don't think he reads his posts either.

No ... my hero is Satan.  The Kosher Satan.  Trump is neither Satan nor Kosher.

If necessary, I can always use Google Translate on my own posts ;-)

OK, one time I will fess up ...

I don't use an Oija board to create posts.  I use Scott Adams.  Specifically his Dilbert cartoons, as true scripture.  Particularly the episodes from the Dilbert TV series, which aired 1999-2000.  Some of the final episodes prophetically deal with both pandemic and the 2020 election.  Scott Adams can pull stories out of his ass better than CNN, and is funnier than Don Lemon.  Scott Adams vblog is pretty good too ...

I use analogical thinking (analogies) all the time.  And they don't persuade, which is fine, because I am posting to the peanut gallery.

I hope they sprung for virgin olive oil at least. Many self proclaimed "Satanists" are apparently just phucking with xtian morons. That is pretty easy to do because when your world view is based on lies, it is hard to keep it all straight. Thus..the hundreds of versions and their child-like adherents, each one claiming to have the secret sauce.

They all have three things in common, we are the right ones, follow us you sheep-or else, and btw we need your money for your salvation. Of course there has to be some agency running the show, right? So lets get real detailed with nonsense. I have never ruled out some form of agency. There is ZERO evidence one way or the other. So pick a team because that's what mommy and daddy did. It's easy and lazy and comforting to assume living forever in return for being gullible. So yea...GO SATAN !!!

SGOS

Satanism sounds like a Hell of a lot more fun than Christianity, and it lends itself so much better to sexual role playing.  You see a little cleavage on a church lady and you just assume she was a little careless in choosing her dress; No big deal.  But cleavage on a woman wearing a black dress and ram's horns, and you know she has been sent to represent the will of Satan, while she is advocates some sort of depravity on a church alter.  Which should I choose?  Duh?!!

I'd say that the vast majority are exactly that.  Just take Christian norms and invert them - Lucifer as a role model instead of Jesus, self-indulgent instead of self-denying, meritocratic instead of autocratic, dressed in black instead of white, etc.

The ones we hear about in the news are fierce defenders of seperation of church and state and expose inappropriate cozying - if Satanists try to do what Christians routinely do and their way is barred, then it becomes quite obvious that there is a double-standard.  They should be lauded for their good work at rooting out corruption that endangers our secular republic.
