Yes.  That bugs me, too.  I keep thinking you're trailing off or something.

I liked read yours POV. Seriously for those who take the religion of their husband or wife , I ask to myself if they believe what say their new religion.

Good points. But I'd rather have them change religions than to stick with one and not question anything else. The ones who know better will ultimately reach the same conclusion though.

In the old days, religion would only serve the heads of power that claimed to directly "speak" to "god". They would reap the material benefits of religion by plundering and pillaging the poor of everything they had, all under the justification of them having some type of special relationship with "god".

Now, things are much different, but it still happens. Priests, clerics and rabbis still manipulate their masses for money and other material gain, but the followers themselves have more power now considering it's 2013 and not 1302. Even the most sheepish delusional religious folk, as committed to their "faith" as they may be, still reap the benefits of living in a free system where their right to believe what they want is guaranteed. In turn, with the religious authorities off the backs of the people, individuals, just like the heads of power in the past, find a multitude of reasons to exploit whatever their religion may be for whatever purpose their minds can justify.

So when people convert to many different religions, or they basically "shop around" the 'religious market', it's because they, just like basically everyone else throughout existence that has believed in god and religion, are doing it for insert selfish reason here. People use god and religion to serve their own greedy wants and interests, and converting to multiple different religions is a sign that those individuals may be converting because X religion may allow them to do something that Y religion did not (if they are scripture literalists, or not, it depends).

It's all, after all, in the name of god. Ask any person of faith and I'm absolutely sure that basically all of them will believe that whatever path they are following is approved by god.

My opinion is people are looking for what fits their preconceived notions the best as not to cause cognitive dissonance. Everyone does it. As a scientist, I think your question is stupid, juvenile, and exhibits an embyo's level of consciousness.

Also I can saw that many of them don't have the basic scientifical knowledge (Cosmology, Evolution theory, Gravity etc...). What is your opinion about that?
Let me first mention that you need lessons in English grammar. Then I would like to know about your scientifical knowledge (Cosmology, Evolution theory, Gravity etc...).
I would venture a guess that the OP is not American and English is not their first language. The fact is that we, or most of us can understand what they are saying. That is good enough for me. I don't think that their grammer is in question here, only their theory.
Now to that:
People decide about their beliefs in as many ways as there are people. Most are brainwash/indoctrinated from an early age. Many are peer pressured or socialized to their belief. Cultural intimidation accounts for many beliefs. This not only dictates what to believe but enforces that all will stay inline and maintain that obedience.
The conservatives in this nation use Cultural Intimidation to that effect.
A few come to their beliefs and or nonbeliefs by critical thought and individual decission. Most of us here on this forum for example.
Now those that change:
For one reason or another the belief system that one has or had was not satisfying their specific needs.
Again Cultural Intimidation (called enlightenment) is the most usual cause. Actual brainwashing is a cuase. But most fascinating are the ones that change because they realize that all religion is bullshit and they finally wake up!

Many do for social reasons, as many have said.  When I dropped out of Christianity, I explored different religions.  I think I was looking for a community I could belong to.  But, then I learned there are none.  All religions have a hierarchy and an absolutist doctrinal stance.   Which usually makes no sense whatsoever.

Except maybe for the Universal Life Church, which I am ordained in.  Which if you want to do many things in most states gives you license to do so.  Such as conducting a marriage ceremony.  Good political cover to, as when asked about your religion, you can say you are an ordained minister of the ULC.  The electorate don't need to know there are devout atheists in the ULC's ranks.

Anyway, I think people change their religion for social reasons and to a lesser extent in a search for the "truth."
