78% of Democratic voters support the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate plan
75% of likely Democratic voters have a favorable opinion of Dr. Fauci
59% of Democratic voters would favor a government policy requiring that citizens remain confined to their homes at all times, except for emergencies, if they refuse to get a COVID-19 vaccine
55% of Democratic voters would support a proposal for federal or state governments to fine Americans who choose not to get a COVID-19 vaccine
48% of Democratic voters think federal and state governments should be able to fine or imprison individuals who publicly question the efficacy of the existing COVID-19 vaccines on social media, television, radio, or in online or digital publications
47% of Democrats favor governments using digital devices to track unvaccinated people to ensure that they are quarantined or socially distancing from others
45% of Democrats would favor governments requiring citizens to temporarily live in designated facilities or locations if they refuse to get a COVID-19 vaccine

Remember, if you oppose that, it is because you are a "Fascist".

Come on, you're just beating a dead horse. We all know that the Dems are simply communists--oh, and socialists, too--and of course, fascist as well; not to mention LIBERAL for fucks sake! They are a disgrace to this noble country and especially so when compared to the Republicans who believe in mom, apple pie, and hot dogs!; and champion of The 'Merican Dream, fairness, honesty and truthfulness! And thank GOD for that!!
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent,
Is he able but not willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able or willing?
Then why call him god?

In the US, you can sign up here to receive four free at-home COVID tests: https://www.covidtests.gov
It looks like N95 masks may soon be available free at pharmacies too.

Is it me, or Boris Johnson has just declared the end of all restrictions in the country, so he wouldn't look worse for not resigning after the party scandal? I mean this happens just after Djokovic the moron's visa is canceled. Which was very good news against anti-vaxxers. And then here, now the unvaccinated people can enter everywhere. Seriously, I can't follow anything.

If you expect any of this to make sense, your expectations are probably too high. I can't remember a time that could be harder to understand than the present, and it's NOT just my country. It seems to be going on in many other countries as well. Anarchy seems to be the order of the day, with politicians even promoting it while not identifying it as such. The Libertarians are loving it. The Republicans see it as best way to create a new form of government in which they rule. And Democrats, as usual, don't seem to know what the fuck to do.

And?

Quote from: Jason Harvestdancer on January 18, 2022, 09:30:10 PM75% of likely Democratic voters have a favorable opinion of Dr. Fauci

You mean the doctor who no one had a problem with until the tax-evading President, who attempted to steal the election with a violent coup, decided he was an inconvenience for telling people the truth?

Quote from: Jason Harvestdancer on January 18, 2022, 09:30:10 PM59% of Democratic voters would favor a government policy requiring that citizens remain confined to their homes at all times, except for emergencies, if they refuse to get a COVID-19 vaccine

You mean the free and easily accessible vaccine that is proven safe and effective, and which no one has any reason not to get unless they're a conspiracy theorist?

Quote from: Jason Harvestdancer on January 18, 2022, 09:30:10 PM55% of Democratic voters would support a proposal for federal or state governments to fine Americans who choose not to get a COVID-19 vaccine

After two years of having to put up with this bullshit because people are too stupid to take precautions, perpetuating this pandemic into infinity, and crowding up hospitals and morgues with their dumb asses, I'm surprised this number isn't higher.

Quote from: Jason Harvestdancer on January 18, 2022, 09:30:10 PM48% of Democratic voters think federal and state governments should be able to fine or imprison individuals who publicly question the efficacy of the existing COVID-19 vaccines on social media, television, radio, or in online or digital publications

You mean spreading dangerous misinformation, resulting in real people dying?

Quote from: Jason Harvestdancer on January 18, 2022, 09:30:10 PM47% of Democrats favor governments using digital devices to track unvaccinated people to ensure that they are quarantined or socially distancing from others

WTF? I had doubts about the legitimacy of your source from the beginning, but now I'm almost certain it's just BS rightwing propaganda, from the same people who seriously thought there were computer chips hidden in the vaccines.

No.

You're hilarious.

No. You're just an idiot.

Whoa now, these people who spontaneously and suddenly have some sort of weird problem with Fauci are free-thinkers and neutral parties who are dispassionately and impartially evaluating the situation and the fact that they just happen to echo the sentiments, talking points, and sometimes the exact words of King Orange is a pure coincidence. Maybe.

the_antithesis

I don't like Fauci because that man never has good news.

There isn't a whole lot to be happy about when it comes to this virus as we learn more and more, so far at least.

Will there come a day when COVID-19 goes the way of measles? “We’re hoping one day [measles] will be eradicated. Will that happen with coronavirus? No, it will not,” Poland said. “We are not yet at any stage where we could predict endemicity. We’re not going to eradicate it. We have an animal reservoir now â€" white-tailed deer in the U.S. â€" that are infected with SARS-CoV-2, for example.”

COVID-19 has killed 853,230 Americans. Currently, there is a daily average of 753,990 new cases in the U.S., up 29% over two weeks, according to the New York Times tracker. Deaths currently have a daily average of 1,971, up 48% over 14 days. The COVID-19 Scenario Modeling Hub estimates that deaths to mid-March could be between 50,000 and 300,000.

Blackleaf,

I'm only repeating data points from the polls. I didn't make it up, people polled produced those answers.

Europe considers new covid strategy

Please ignore the clickbaity headline at the top of the article, which implies that European governments are simply giving up. That is not the case.

QuoteThe European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has advised countries to transition to more routine handling of COVID-19 after the acute phase of the pandemic is over. The agency said in a statement that more EU states in addition to Spain will want to adopt “a more long-term, sustainable surveillance approach.”

QuoteThe idea is to move from crisis mode to control mode, approaching the virus in much the same way countries deal with flu or measles.
Essentially, after the Omicron surge subsides, many of these countries are going to shift focus to dealing with it on an ongoing basis and taking measures as needed rather than going into lockdown mode. They can do this because they have high enough vaccination numbers that outbreaks aren't quite as crippling as they are to less *coughs in Freedom* developed countries.

While there is something sacred about "owning" your children, there is also something sacred about keeping them safe. Parent's should not treat their children like they are broken toys.

Don't let your "meatloaf" when it comes to masks and vax, right? Bummer.

I completely agree about the hospital staffing ratios. Nurses have a lot of options and it is much easier not to work at the bedside or on the front lines. These nurses are not exaggerating when describing the abuse they experience.

Easy unless your current boss won't let you leave (at will employment, though who's will has yet to be determined)
