Maybe, but...

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2020/3/24/21192409/coronavirus-pandemic-trump-approval-rating-polls

Multiple polls, from various biases, are all finding Trump's poll numbers jumping by nearly double-digit percentages. I realise this is still the early days of the pandemic, and it's going to get a lot worse, but if people find that bumbling mess appealing now... I fear that harsher times might make them even more fanatical, even if he does lose some mass appeal. Don't need mass appeal to do a lot of damage when you have your own personality cult willing to hurt people they disagree with.

And let's not pretend it's not a cult of personality... he has surrounded himself with yes-men who show unwavering loyalty, with even the smallest disagreement with him enough to have you removed from your position (regardless of how competent you might be). No one can tell him no, they have to play all sorts of games to get what needs to be done done.

Did you vote for Empress Clinton in 2016?  The Left always accuses the Right of what they are already doing ... and are correct ;-)

It isn't in Greenland. It is in an abandoned coal mine on the island of Spitsbergen in the Svalbard archipelago, and it's in trouble. Climate change has affected Svalbard more than most places. The temperature there has risen about 5C in the last 60 years. It is warmer than they planned for, and they are having to use a lot more energy to keep it as cold as they need it to be. That costs money that isn't in the planned budget. Gates and other rich people/foundations/corporations have donated tens of millions of dollars to the project, but they are still having trouble paying the bills. Gates doesn't own the seeds either. The Global Crop Diversity Trust that manages the vault is a UN organization.

It was some Norwegian climatologist at the bar in the Radisson Blu Polar Hotel in Longyearbyen that first told me about global warming some 20ish years ago.

The UN is the biggest conspiracy of them all, aside from the Vatican!  Short of energy?  Maybe they should spend less Kwt-hr mining Bitcoin ;-)  Yes, climate does change.  I don't trust the Norwegians either, bunch of socialists ;-))

Some Waffle House locations are closing due to pandemic

You know *$#& has really hit the fan when those places start closing.  For non-Americans, these restaurants are always open and never close unless the situation is truly serious.  Like Four Horseman serious.

"Nashville Waffle House shooting. ... On April 22, 2018, a mass shooting occurred at a Waffle House restaurant in the Antioch neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee, United States. Four victims were killed and two suffered gunshot wounds. Two others were injured by broken glass." ... yep, open all the time to riff-raff ;-)

News from Democratic Republic of California and LaLaLand ...

"LA Mayor To Cut Off Water & Power Of "Irresponsible, Selfish" Stores That Remain Open" ... guess he can't give them a citation?

""Someone Is Gonna Get Shot" - LA County Sheriff Orders All Gun Stores Closed" ... Deplorables already have guns, no need for the Dems to have them too.

So ... will the US post-virus looks like E Berlin or Pyongyang?

Only a small percentage of infected actually die.  All the social distancing and self-isolation is to cut that number down as much as possible.  Let it not be said that Millennials don't care about Boomers.

I don't think they will force non-Christians to attend.  We can't all be atheists ;-)

Meanwhile, yes, shut down the US forever, so the whole population dies.  Just what Emperor Xi wants.

No, young people, in every generation, are immature.  I don't wan't Millennials to care for me, because that means the gulag ;-)

We will know, in 9 more months, how many will die from this.  Until then, it is projection, based on inaccurate numbers.

Today, my county is likely to get an official stay-at-home order.  This is my third day of self-isolation, so I'm a little ahead of the curve.

When the number of cases in NYC skyrocketed, and NC cases started a more modest climb, I decided that it's only a matter of time before the same thing started happening here.  Because whatever happens in NYC spreads to the whole eastern seaboard quickly.

Today, we had the first two NC deaths - a 70+ year old and a 60+ who died of coronavirus complications while traveling.

This was also the deadliest coronavirus day in the US - 163 so far.  Granted, that's nothing compared to Spain or Italy or China, but we're the last one hit, so we're still in a fairly early stage.  That number is most definitely going up.

“Hobby Lobby founder tells workers that God spoke to his wife and forgot to mention paid sick leave”.

Billionaire refuses to pay sick leave after keeping stores open because ‘God spoke to him’

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/hobby-lobby-stay-open-coronavirus-staff-sick-leave-a9423491.html

The US arts-and-crafts chain Hobby Lobby has said it will remain open during the coronavirus epidemic â€" but has also refused sick pay for workers who fall ill, including from Covid-19. ...

Mr Green, a devout conservative Christian whose net worth is in the region of $6bn, also wrote that “I cannot adequately express how much I appreciate each one of you.”

However, in a March 23 memo to store managers seen by Business Insider, store operations vice president Randy Betts wrote that the business would “make every effort to continue working the employees”, and that sick workers will be expected to use their personal paid leave or take an unpaid leave of absence.

Much of the reaction to the revelations focused on the discrepancy between the Christian values expressed in the letter and the hardline payroll policies in the memo. Left-wing blog DailyKos, for instance, headlined its story “Hobby Lobby founder tells workers that God spoke to his wife and forgot to mention paid sick leave”.

Sure enough, in the 19 March letter to employees, Mr Green wrote that when his wife Barbara prayed for guidance the week before, “God put on [her] heart three profound words to remind us that he’s in control: Guide, Guard and Groom.

“While we do not know for certain what the future holds, or how long this disruption will last, we can all rest in knowing that God is in control.” ...

Why do Christian find the idea of God being in control comforting? If you believe in an omnipotent God, isn't "God is in control" simply stating the obvious? It isn't like the God of the Bible is in control and everything is going to be fine. God is in control and he's giving you coronavirus. God is in control and he has deemed you unworthy. God is in control and he's decided to wipe all living creatures from the planet... again.

Christians sometimes remind me of people who would rather be in an abusive relationship than be alone.

Anyone else get chained-in-the-basement vibes from that?
