Current US news ...

"California coronavirus lockdown: Cannabis dispensaries listed as 'essential' businesses" ... they are counted with pharmacies, which are also not shut down.

What is different from California vs where I live, is we aren't on complete shutdown, and in-dining restaurants are closed in California, period.  Here I can still get take-out.  Essential services both civilian and government will remain open, even in California.  Middle class people are starting to extend the panic to getting cash out of banks, not just raiding all the TP at Walmart.  Four US senators have been caught making insider trading (like Martha Stewart) after a private briefing to Congress, before the first big drop in the Stock Market.

A young friend of mine was caught in a bind, wanted to go to his relatives in California last weekend, for a couple weeks stay.  They told him not to come.  Did they know what the California governor was going to do? ;-)

Early analysis of cases from China ...

Not all dangerous Covid leads to pneumonia.  A significant percentage are gastro-intestinal.  So you can get Covid as a stomach flu, depending on how it enters your body.  If it goes to your lungs, you get pneumonia, otherwise not.

I called in a prescription refill and the pharmacist said starting next week they are mailing all refills and waiving any additional fees.

On banking here ... in lobby banking is closed.  Only drive-thru banking available.  If you need in your safety deposit box you need to make an appointment.

here in the uk, Boots, our main pharmacy brand where I get my prescription from, as of the moment has a charge fee of £52 for home deliveries for medication. I'm waiting to see them change this in this current time. Luckily I got enough insulin for several more weeks.

My 78 year old, asthmatic mother is on her... third trip today out of the house. Nearly everyday she goes out, or talks to neighbours.

I've given up trying to warn her at this point. I went out of my way to isolate myself to protect her, but she is out and about more than me even if I wasn't staying home.

Now I am just frustrated because if she brings it back here I am probably fucked as well. I already have breathing issues and smoke way too much (haven't in about a month in preparation, but still)... and I've already decided if it comes to worse I would donate my ICU bed to someone who needs it more... to someone who actually has a future.

No one here in my small town is taking this seriously... and it is a retirement town with a high poverty rate, so if it spreads it's going to hit it hard.

Isolating isn't an option for me until the government decides drug stores and pharmacies aren't an essential service (or we get too many sick workers to stay open). Luckily the higher-ups at my company are good folks, and doing everything in their power to keep us supplied with gloves and disinfectant. They haven't been able to get us masks, but we're allowed to wear our own if we have them.

Stay safe. Has your pharmacy moved into more home deliveries during this time?

QuoteRome (AFP) - They come to bless those suffering the most from the novel coronavirus. And then, more and more often, Italy's priests die themselves.

The diocese of Bergamo northeast of Milan appears to have been ravaged the most by the stealth killer.

At least 10 of its priests have died of COVID-19, the Catholic daily Avvenire reported Thursday.

The deaths, whether of priests or members of their communities, are "so numerous that it is difficult to count", the paper wrote.

Five more fatalities were registered in the city of Parma. Still more virus-related deaths emerged among priests in Brescia, Cremona and the northern industrial hub of Milan itself.

All these parishes are clustered in Italy's north, the virus's target from the day the Catholic country's first death was reported four weeks ago.

More than 3,400 Italians have died from the virus since then.

Italy has taken over the grim title of being the global epicentre of the pandemic from China, where COVID-19 was first reported in late December.

- Dying more than doctors -

Like doctors, Italy's priests come in contact with the disease's most serious cases.

And like doctors, priests are known to congregate among themselves in close quarters, creating the perfect conditions for contagion.

A count by Italy's ANSA news agency on Thursday put the number of medics killed by the disease at 13.

Figures reported by Italian media suggest the death toll among priests is higher. At least 18 priests have been reported killed.

"Dressed in a mask, a cap, gloves, a robe and protective glasses, we priests walk around the halls like zombies," Father Claudio del Monte told Italy's Adnkronos news agency.

Del Monte has a parish in Bergamo, a walled, hillside city of 120,000, with square towers and slanted terracotta roofs familiar to tourists of many scenic Italian towns.

Its province is now Italy's worst-affected. With 4,634 infections as of Friday, it had piled up 11 percent of all of Italy's cases.

Its population accounts for just 0.2 percent of Italy's total.

Bergamo has so many dead that army trucks had to deliver supplies of freshly-made wooden coffins Thursday.

It has so many dead that mortuaries can no longer hold them all.

"We no longer know where to put the dead," the bishop of Bergamo, Francesco Beschi, told the Vatican News site.

Standing and looking at the coffins makes him feel "very heavy", Beschi said.

- Dying of zeal -

Like all the other victims, the clergymen are buried without ceremony.

Funerals, along with weddings, have been banned for over a week to stem contagion. They may not be allowed again for many more weeks or months.

"It is painful to see the priests fall sick," Enrico Salmi, the bishop of Parma, told the Avvenire.

"Sometimes it happens (to them) out of pastoral zeal. They enter the intensive care unit where, naturally, no one is supposed to go."

Touched by the plight of the priests of Bergamo, Pope Francis placed a call Wednesday to Beschi, the parish bishop.

Pope Francis was "very impressed by the suffering of the many dead," Beschi said in a statement.

The Argentine-born pontiff has repeatedly called on priests to spend more time visiting the sick.

Where is your fucking god now, morons?

The pope should've instead implore caution and health advice, but nooooOOOoooo, let's just pretend we're above this infectious disease.

Surprising twist, churches here in England have stopped church gatherings and restricted weddings to only 5 people

Though I'd wonder why anyone would want to get married at this time. "Oh remember our wedding day, people were dying of a disease all over the world, but it was such lovely weather ^^"

Well I just spent the afternoon where I didn't want to be. In the emergency room. I chopped the end of my finger off with the table saw. The good news is the place was practically abandoned. Just one other person in the waiting room that walked in right in front of me. The bad news is she had a nasty cough and was there because she was worried about having Covid-19. I was wearing a N-95 mask for the dust while I was working and didn't take the damn thing off until I got back home. The first thing I did when I got home was strip in the garage, put my cloths in a trash bag, carried them straight to washer, then took a long shower. Hopefully I don't die...

Ouch :S, hope your fingers okay.
As for the worry, you were wearing the mask. You didnt wipe your face right? Remember the virus isn't airborn but through droplets of human fluids.

If anything develops call the emergency number right away, but don't stress out.
