I dare you to walk barefoot along my wood hallway.  Everything IS a nail sometimes.

Personally, I use square-drive screws whenever possible.

Well, supposedly with wooden floors, over time, the boards work themselves out, thus exposing some joinery.

The boards at the edges of the walls don't get hammerred in the same way as ones in the middle boards do.  So a couple keep pushing up.  One reason I don't walk around barefoot.  And I've even used glue to try to hold them down.  THIS time, I'm using a dab of construction adhesive.
