The problem, as said, with the trans gender movement, is anyone who simply feels like they want to be a new gender or identity, gets given praise for it, even if all they've done is the same thing a five year olds done in playing dress up.

My old friend, who was proper trans, female to male, that kind of transition takes guts to do, and I'll always respect anyone who does so.

But just someone putting on a dress, saying their a woman now, getting offended if people don't agree their female now, while never having the guts to properly transition, I have no time for, since it's just this annoying identity politics bs that's everywhere today.

I don't see any difference between a guy suddenly saying 'i'm a-gendered non-binary now' as I do seeing an otherkin saying 'I'm a dragon, I've always been a dragon, I just never knew it'.

Gender dysphoria is a mental illness, yes. The accepted medical treatment for the illness is speech therapy and hormone regimens to transition you to the identified gender, up to but not always including sexual reassignment surgery. That much is not controversial.
