Quote from: Cassia on August 21, 2021, 09:48:17 AMI still enjoy simple FPSs like the updated Quake on my Win PC, but I do get some Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from the mouse. Can you guys recommend a different controller?
Console controller?  VR?  On PC, the mouse is king.  Other than recommending shorter sessions or a more comfortable mousepad or wrist rest, I dunno what to tell you.

Sometimes, on click-heavy games, I use an autoclicker.  That's about all I know about.

Yea, shorter sessions...but I was so tuned in, LOL

If I am not mistaken, one can get a joy stick like controller that is usually used for console systems but made for PC's.

I do like flight sims too. I was reading up on it and I guess you just don't get the accuracy needed with anything but a mouse. The new Quake expansion packs are so cool. I used to do multi-player but I don't have network speed and get immediately fragged.

I've had problems with some of the games I've played.  Far Cry is an example.  It was first put out as a console game and it became very popular.  So, they re did them for the PC.  When flying or using a car or boat, the WASD keys were to be used to control them.  If I had three hands, I guess it would work.  Trying to do the maneuvers one needs to is very, very frustrating non-happening.  Good luck Cassia in your search for another controller.

Oh yeah, I have had some wicked video game nightmares, LOL. Especially after playing drunk.

I need a dozen people at night, too.   :shifty:

Finally started playing Tetris Effect, and it's actually really cool. Basic mix Tetris with interactive music, visuals and LSD/Mushrooms and you have a sense of the direction they were going. And parts of it are genuinely difficult with varying speed. Takes you from the oceans, to fractals, to deserts, to cities, to Hindu myths... it's cool.

Playing Endless Legend (Civilization-like turn-based strategy)

I struggled a lot in the early game, but thanks to an alliance with the bat-people to my south, my knight-vampires crushed the sadomasochist wizards (that's really what they are) to the east.  Peace at last!

Until...

I got a quest where I would have to betray my ally for a chance at ultimate power.  Naturally, I did the only decent, honorable thing I could have done...

Later, my understandably outraged ally demanded to know what I want in exchange for peace.  So I told them...

Me: what do you want to watch?
Gf: you can play a game if you want, i'm just gonna knit a bit vefore bed.

Boots up crash bandicoot nsane trilogy.
Spend 15 minutes getting through the next level on the speedrun option. (Road to nowhere.) Start making progress.

Gf: can i try?

Gf has been playing for up to 45 minutes. Sitting here doing nothing. And even if she beats the level in the alloted time, i'm still going to have to try it again myself, because i want to be able to beat it myself.

Guys, what do you think about Humankind? It's too expensive for now in anyway, but has any of you played it?

No, but it's on my wishlist.  May pick it up when it goes on sale.

I'm a huge fan of Amplitude Studios (Endless Legend, Endless Space, etc) and Humankind is definitely on my wishlist.  Alas, I need to upgrade my computer to play it comfortably.  As soon as I do, I'm getting this game.
