Setting up the old Windows PC standalone, just to play Civ2 again.  Might lose me a whole weekend...  But that's the nice thing about being retired and living alone.  So long as I remember to feed the cats...

The cats will be fed, when you expire ;-)

Ya know what hurts?  Windows 10 doesn't seem to support Civ2...  I used to LIVE for that game.  Advice to play appreciated...

That is the reason I still run Win 7--it still runs the games I like best.

Sometimes its nice to find independent game creators away from the mainstream, considering the technology at peoples disposal now.

My boyfriend introduced me to a new game being developed, but an artist called Alpha0 on the site furraffinity, just an example of his work.

(these were pretty much the few least erotic images I could find)

Anyway he's managed to get patreon funding for a game he's developing himself, called Bonfire, and just right off, its an erotic rpg open world adventure, where you play the main character, an orc, and run around meeting other characters and, well basically screwing them, and based on your expertise is how quickly you bond with them.

Sure its erotic based, but playing this, it really felt like someone putting a hell of a lot of effort into something you don't normally see, the more adult community branching out into game development, something that for the longest time hasn't really been that great compared to everything else, comics, home movies, magazines, online images, gifs and videos.

And since designing a game is a lot more time consuming and requires more effort then just having someone draw an picture or take a snapshot, I felt like this guy deserves some recognition for his work.

If anyones interested in basically big muscled gay orcs running around screwing in open fields, with perhaps a developing story, give it a look.
He's released a free download.

My windows 7 computer actually came apart.  Seriously, the CD cover fell off, and a plug in the back went loose.  I'll have to visit the local PC repair shop.

Its almost sad that I need a special computer now just to play a particular game, but I think I understand why.  The Civ2 game is 16 bit and the new ones are 64 bit.

Mine did the same 2 yrs ago, plus the hard drive started scrambling things.  So, I bit the bullet, sold some of my baseball cards and bought a new gaming computer using wind. 7.  Have not regretted it for a minute.

I am fortunate I wouldn't have to do quite all that, but I will buy or restore the old windows.  But Civ2 is not a game to give up lightly.  I bet I could take out the hard drive, mount the Civ2 disk in it and reinstall it.

Or when I mess that up, the local PC store can.  :)

Do you really play Civ2 that much like I do?
