I disappointed with some participants here for their racist posts.

As a White bear, you are inherently racist.

Err...how do you think it started in Syria?

Tribal rivalries.  The Alawite minority is in control under the Assad family and the rest of the crazy bastards decided it was worth killing over.  Add in super-power meddling and here we are today.

If they were Turkey, they would have exterminated every ethnic and religious minority.

Well, as the man in black said "get used to disappointment."

The Trump administration cabinet members would just say, "Well, melt all your ice cubes and then the world has plenty of water"...

There's no lack of water on the planet, just a lack of potable water. We need to improve desalination tech and then we may be better off, at least as far as water is concerned. Other problems will remain, though, like the dying off of the bottom of the food chain in the oceans (the phytoplankton), then we may be good and truly fucked.

You can buy multiple use passive water filters to give to Third World people.  Easier than inviting them into your home that you don't have ;-(

All this is the ugly truth about all this, and one that recycling or being progressive and multi cultural or giving money to charity isn't going to do fuck all about. The reality is if humanity doesn't cull itself in war like it's done for so long, it'll just fuck itself into starvation and poverty in its own time.

Why else do you think people are daydreaming about colonising on other planets.

Haven't been here in a while.  It was worth swinging by just for that quote.  Well played, sir!  :cheesy:

Well, AOC has a solution. The New Green Deal.

We are saved. Halleluja.

Hurrah for America.
Except, what about the rest of the planet? Are they going to play along? Does it matter?

Bovine flatulence.

AOC is CIA.  All the leading Dems are CIA.  CIA hates the US, hates the World.  That is what paranoia earns you.

Actually, the solution to human caused climate change, is having a lot fewer humans.  And yes, socialism can contribute to that ;-(

I haven't seen your post.

No. Tribal rivalries is traditional past time in the region. There isn't one place without it. It has been going on for thousands of years. People have lived in that culture for so long. What really changed? Drought. A drought so bad there is literally nothing left. I am not talking about 'oh poverty'. I am talking about nothing. Simply nothing. Because when there is no water, there is nothing. There is not very little, a tiny bit. Just nothing.

I was at high school when this was a known issue. That the drought will go so bad, it will cause wars and eventualy massive immigration waves. It didn't happen at once. It has been going on so long. It has arrived screaming. This was openly written in newspapers and discussed in tv programs in Europe and where I live. It just looked so far away story in a pre-9/11 world.

I am 43 years old today and the whole story has been written over again and over again. What you describe up there is post 9/11 jargon and perspective. One enemy, one series of events, one evil person. Bullshit. We have already been living in water wars. People think it is going to be like in sci-fi movies, lol. This is it. It has already started.

20 years ago, Americans or Europeans had no idea who Alewits were. Nobody was interested in this. There were immigrant boats sinking, people dying when I was a kid. I was a 15 year old kid watching this on tv. Nobody was interested. LOL generally a Westener who knew that Iranians are not Arabs, Irak and Iran are different countries was a big deal on the net. Don't get offended, I am describing the the day.

Memory, history...perspective. Narratives. How easy to build them.

People should stop believing these narratives. This is theism. This is the religious narrative. We are not living some bad chapter of new story that is started by an evil villain that which is gonna end when he is dead or when some war is won. World doesn't work that way.

It isn't news that there is a serious drought in the mediterranean region.

Quote
NASA Finds Drought in Eastern Mediterranean Worst of Past 900 Years

A new NASA study finds that the recent drought that began in 1998 in the eastern Mediterranean Levant region, which comprises Cyprus, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and Turkey, is likely the worst drought of the past nine centuries.

That fails to explain why only Syria is embroiled in civil war.  If they were all sitting there praying for rain to whichever-god-that-isn't-there I might buy it but they seem far more concerned with blowing each other to bits.  They are not the only ones suffering from the drought.

How does a lethal drought fail to explain any kind of war in any region on the planet? The first reason for war on this planet has always been resource. Ancient or modern. Do you think it would be a different situation in the middle of the USA? Or Europe?

Water is the most important resource on the planet. If you don't have water, everything and everybody dies. And you think this is not enough reason for a civil war because they have been clashing before?

We are living the climate change. It's not coming. It has already arrived.
