Yeah, I voted for Reagan twice, while a Democrat.  My party's candidates were such losers back then ... and still are.

I do regret voting then ... because of that snake George H W being his Vice.  Even more evil than Cheney.

I don't know if my grandfathers or great uncles ever fought.....never really cared to find out. My brother told me he traced our family back to Jamestown... a rather small dot in American History is that one James Brumfield 16 killed by Indians, 1607 (noted as the first settler to be killed by Indians) I thought that was coolish in that any snooty fuck should start bragging about being a descendent of the Mayflower....."fuck you chump lissen up jack I got you beat by 13 years...."

That's OK.  One of mine didn't get to Jamestown until 1622.  Missed the Powhatan war by ... this much.  But one of his descendants is ancestral to President Thomas Jefferson.  Pocahontas' descendent was our only woman President (2nd Mrs Wilson, ran government for a year while her husband was invalid in the WH).  That is why the 25th amendment was made, not because of Trump.

Jamestown early on was a bad place to be.  Most of the people died from starvation and cannibalism.  Squanto was busy helping Plymouth.  And a serious surprise attack was the Powhatan War in 1622 ... which killed many settlers who did manage to avoid a Darwin Award.  Early on, drug pushing (tobacco) was the only thing that made Virginia viable.  It certainly wasn't the virgins ;-)

The English colonial period was based on the Triangle Trade ... pushing sugar, tobacco and slaves.  Much of the sugar was transported in the form of rum.  Sugar was grown as sugar cane, under terrible conditions in the lower Caribbean.  Both Irish and Africans were enslaved there.  Perhaps bad British teeth are a tradition from the early importation of sugar.

Hindsight ... I would have had a draft in 1961, that was universal for men and women.  If you didn't measure up, strip you of citizenship and ship your dysfunctional ass to Vietnam, with Jane Fonda that is.  And no, I would not have invaded S E Asia.  It is a kindness, to give the rebels a taste of their own medicine.  Yes, a little functional totalitarianism would do us good, compared the the dysfunctional totalitarianism (that servers our enemies by mollycoddling Fifth columnists) we have now.

When Reagan was Gov of CA, we called him Gov Ray Guns because he was fanatic about threatening students who disagreed with him.  He considered us to be communist trash.

I didn't like him much better as President, of course.  I personally considered him a demented old minor hollywood actor who could read a good speech that his advisors wrote for him, nothing more.
