Sounds like a Netflix dramatization.  They lost me at "its a mystery".

Was a mystery, until status quo violating scientists show otherwise.

"Status Quo-violating scientists?  Man you have REALLY got to explain THAT one...  And in real words, please.

Scientists are demi-gods (actually we all are).  They are completely reasonable, and never engage in office politics.  Ever hear of The Structure Of Scientific Revolutions?

"Scientists are demi-gods"

No.

No.

"Ever hear of The Structure Of Scientific Revolutions?"

No.  I could look it up, but I'd rather read you explain it.

Thomas Kuhn showed back when we were little, that the story that scientists tell the public, isn't true, it is PR.  For example, with continental drift theory, they had to wait for the old professors to go into retirement, before it could be generally taught in college, even though evidence was quickly accumulating.

The idea that the highly competitive and political scientists are going to play by some rule book (in competition for grant money and for reputation) is very naive.  In fact, most scientist never actually explain how they come up with a successful idea, because it is a trade secret (see Newton vs Leibniz).  The official narrative of from X and Y we get Z, has to be true, but that isn't the actual process the scientist went thru.

Well, at least that was an actual post instead of just some lame joke.

But you still didn't actually discuss your claim about "The Structure Of Scientific Revolutions".  I remain curious...
