Well, if you ever wanted a concrete video you could point to that points out exactly why our judicial system is utterly broken here in the states and the systematic racism and fundamentalist Christianity that infects it from top to bottom (to the point where it's literally denying million of Americans the right to vote)... here you go.

Jesus christ. "There are no standards, each of us have the opportunity to make a desicion based on what we believe... this is a court of mercy, this is not..."

That is the Governor of a State saying that about granting American citizens basic human rights in a Western society, and one of the members of that group main question is, "Do you go to church?".

Let that sink in.

Interesting points raised by Oliver, and no matter which side of the argument you want to defend or attack, that judge makes a travesty out of American Justice.

I do not support removing voting rights from US citizen prisoners.

I do not support corporate slavey of US citizen prisoners.

But if you don't believe in the Police State, you must be soft on crime.

This.

Unless your goal is to win elections by denying African Americans the right to vote (and to be fair, I don't think 99% of voting Republicans are doing that), then there is absolutely no reason to not be horrified by this. Conservatives should be horrified by it because it is a massive infringement on civil rights by the government. Liberals should be horrified by it because of the same. Anarchists, libertarians, socialists, lazzie-faire capitalists... everyone should be opposed to this policy.

The fact that even this has somehow become "left-vs-right" shows just how insane everything has become, especially considering there isn't even a left in America to begin with (hopefully these midterms will have progressive candidates change that).

Unfortunate truth that African-American males have a bad youth environment, and that lead to the typical problems.

Ask African-American families if they are happier now than in 1960.  There has been a great effort since 1960 to push down African-Americans.  Starting with drafting them disproportionately into the Vietnam war.  You hear me, Bill Clinton and Dick Cheney?

However the stats aren't racism itself.  Racism requires power, and the ability to use it in malign ways.  And that is bipartisan.  Of course there are other flavors of tyranny.  Too bad the only way to eliminate human evil, is to end humanity entirely.  But that will come ... our destiny isn't the stars, but ignominious extinction and oblivion.

Yes, more than 1% are.  Close to Trump's 33% deep base support.  The Republican State Governors who close voting locations in majority minority areas using ADA complaints, who redistrict in order to collect minority voters into "sacrificial" districts, and who demand excessive documentation at voting booths, are all actively and deliberately working to diminish the right to vote.

I had to stop listening to the video.  It was too depressingly accurate.

"Can I vote"?

"Depends, do you believe in a cruel all powerful idiot in the sky"?

"No"

"You sick pathetic bastard"!

To be fair .. ban all voting.  Or let everyone vote.  That is non-partisan.

You mean Democrats too?  How enlightened of you.  End Gerrymandering!

Definitely governor Gerry has overstayed his welcome.

The usual partisan position ... only allow voting for those not guilty of wrong-think.

I'm sure Mr Mander would agree these days.
