I don't totally agree with Yanis, but he has entered the den of EU pandaemonium and come out again with his integrity intact.

It always comes down to the big question of anthropology ... why have humanity at all?  And if we answer that, then maybe we can figure out how to organize things to fulfill that answer.  There are really only two choices .. humanism or anti-humanism.  His analysis, and that of Marx, doesn't take into account the one real denominator for economics ... energy, including food energy.  Measure it in BTUs if you will, but there is no fancy accounting trick to cheat this.  Every person needs at least 1500 calories per day internally, and more than that externally.  What you can do in finance, is to make the cost of those calories too high for the average person to obtain (either by increasing expense or lowering income).
