I've only been to Florida once, helping a guy move to Miami. I didn't stay any longer than I had to. I don't recall how hot it was, but, after all, I had been living in Texas, so I was used to hot and humid weather.

Focusing on trivial issues to avoid dealing with important issues is nothing new to state or Federal legislatures.  Florida's obsession with pornography is a throwback to the 1940s, when it was common knowledge that children would turn into perverts from masturbating.  It's not surprising that Florida voters are mostly over 95 and living in care facilities.  I was raised by these people.  They were retarded troglodytes even before the Alzheimer's set in.

Speaking of stupid politicians reacting to the Florida school shooting:

Trump's solution to student shooters? Moar gunz! Give the teachers guns! Wait, people don't like that? Umm... Well, I mean only the teachers who are good with weapons. I wouldn't just let ANYONE have a gun. We have to use some common sense to determine who should have access to--wait, wait. The NRA is saying I should stop talking.

Bonus hilarity: Marco Rubio appeared on CNN's "Town Hall" meeting to discuss gun violence.

"Once you look at how easy it is to get around it (state bans), you would literally have to ban every semi-automatic riffle that is sold in America."

Yes. Do that. Thank you. You finally get it, Rubio. Man, his face when the crowd starts cheering just screams, "Oh no. Oh boy. I fucked up. The NRA isn't going to pay me anymore."

Then one of the teenagers who survived the shooting had this question for Rubio: "Senator Rubio, can you tell me right now that you will not accept a single donation from the NRA in the future?"

I just love watching Republicans' skins crawl.

There are no good ideas, when it is politicians exploiting a tragedy.  As Rom Emanuel said ... don't let a crisis go to waste ;-(

But...but...Chump didn't say "give guns to teachers"...he said "give guns to teachers"...oh, wait...

Archie Bunker's solution to skyjacking is to arm all the passengers. I bet Chump watched that before he came up with his idea of arming teachers:

It's seems like I recall the NRA advocating arming teachers before, or maybe it was something similar with schools.

According to NPR, the public polls show 70% want gun regulations.  Even among gun owners, it's at 58%.

That's nice. Eighty-three percent of Americans supported net neutrality and it will officially end April 23.

We have gun regulations.  But unfortunately they don't work, because they are poorly written, or unenforced.  We don't even have the school guard do his damn job, or the county sheriff do his damn job, or the FBI do their damn job.  If these people can't do their job, I don't care how the regs are written or if there are any regs at all.  Humans are the failure here ... at every level.  Including the adults the young man was staying with.

So should children play with guns?  Of course not.  Maybe make it at least 21 years old (sorry maybe raise the age to vote or drive to 21 as well).  And bring back public sanitariums ... I really don't care if we had violated that young man's right to be crazy and not get put in a padded cell (given what he was accused of before he went on his shooting spree).  Insane people should be identified early, and locked up in sanitariums for their own good.

What's wrong is that we have assholes in the White House who take money from rich organizations such as internet service providers in exchange for ignoring their constituents.

And the NRA.

Hydra009

Both problems have the same source: powerful, wealthy special interests essentially buying legislators.

The public may find their legislators' actions baffling, but their legislators don't.  They know exactly what they're doing and why they're doing it.
