QuoteIn Tuesday's session, which opened with prayer for the community of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 17 students and staff were killed last week, Florida House lawmakers declined to open debate on a bill that would ban assault weapons and large-capacity ammunition magazines.

The motion to debate the bill, introduced by a Democrat, required a two-thirds vote and failed. Thirty-six lawmakers supported it, while 71 voted no. Its merits were not considered.

In that same session, lawmakers supported a bill that declares pornography a public health risk. That bill "recognizes public health risk created by pornography & acknowledges need for education, prevention, research, & policy change to protect citizens of this state."

You cant make this shit up. What a shithole state.

Ah Florida. actually given the shit that comes out of that state, this is a pretty tame day for them.

And no thats not making light of the school shooting recently, it was a horrible event. But yeah Florida is just naturally crazy, so even when something serious happens there, the crazy still finds it way into proceedings.

Tackling non-problems is a hallmark of people who are terrified of having to deal with major, difficult problems.  It's also a hallmark of people whose sense of judgment is so poor that they can no longer accurately identify problems.  Imo, a little of column A, a little of column B.

That's Republicans for ya. They're very specific in which personal freedoms they want regulated. They'll stand up for every psychopath's freedom to buy deadly firearms with ease, and carry it wherever they want without a license, but they're all for regulating your ability to jack off.

When prioritizing "public health risk"...

In 2013, there were 73,505 nonfatal firearm injuries and 33,636 deaths due to "injury by firearms". These deaths consisted of 11,208 homicides, 21,175 suicides, 505 deaths due to accidental or negligent discharge of a firearm, and 281 deaths due to firearms use with "undetermined intent".

How many people were killed or injured by pornography?

Porn supporters support porn ;-)

Gun supporters support guns ;-(

But there is now a HS in Indiana that is like the Gulag, thanks to paranoid fears of HS students with guns.  Americans always go full retard ... but in more than one way.

Of course Democrats and Republicans can be bipartisan on this "solution" ... they differ on if there are to be commissars or gruppen-fuhrers in the hallways (the days of unarmed hall monitors are so over).

Once I came down with abdominal cramps.

There should really be a comma there somewhere but I'm not sure where to put it.

I've never really put political types to it, I just put it down to Florida being close to hot swamplands and those stamp gases funneling towards them and making people crazy.

Can you get high on swamp gas, or does it just cause stupidity?

Dunno, but googling marsh gas.

QuoteMarsh gas, swamp gas and bog gas are common names for biogas which forms in wetlands, whose principal component is methane with hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide as minor compositions, produced naturally within some geographical marshes, swamps, and bogs.

Marsh gases making people more crazy then usual could have some science to it.

Then again, it could simply be down to the extreme levels of heat for long periods.

QuoteIt’s not just the lack of four distinct seasons, but the mix of heat, humidity, hurricanes and native flora and fauna that’s not found in the rest of America. As Swamplandia! author and Miami-Dade native Karen Russell told "On The Media," it all starts with the weather. “You’re just bathed in this unchanging summer like all the time,” she said. “The shape of it [the state] too, it’s like a lot of strangeness just travels the spine of the country and seems to land there… I think there’s some physics to it.”

Scientistsâ€"not just writersâ€"have found there are a range of mental and physical health issues that arise when people live above 80 degrees Fahrenheit. One paper, based on 13 years of Australian data, “observed a positive association between ambient temperature and hospital admissions for mental and behavioral disorders.”
