The problem of Christianity

The language used by Christians in worship dominates the English language.  Clearly, the King James Bible is a masterpiece of interpretation.  But could you destroy it utterly, would there be any purpose in the destruction of language?  Personally, an atheist should be beware of the language that they use but not afraid.  People are going to be confused no matter what you say, therefore why worry?

Language, as for all people and institutions, is a problem for Christianity. Language is obviously very useful, but it is also very imperfect. Language as we all know can be difficult or impossible to understand. It can be confusing and ambiguous. These language difficulties pose difficulties for Christianity because Christianity is essentially based in words, and those words have confused literally millions of people. The Bible is a huge book full of strange and bewildering stories that few people can seem to understand in the same way.

A perfect God would not be hobbled by the limitations of language, but people who have made up a God surely would be so hobbled! So the reasonable conclusion is that we have created the gods in our own images. All the gods bear the indelible stamp of human limitations and imperfections.

So true!   For example, KJV has Jesus condoning violence here:

(KJV) Mat 11:12  And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

In contrast, my favorite Bible translation reads:

(NW) Matthew 11:12 - From the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of the heavens is the goal toward which men press, and those pressing forward are seizing it.+

The Crusaders would have loved KJV!

You ignore the hate that language engenders.
We 'new atheists' have a reputation for being militant, but make no mistake  we didn't start this war. If you want to place blame put it on the the religious zealots who have been poisoning the minds of the  young for a long long time."

Ah yes...right after he tells people to kill stubborn children. You only read the bullshit and ignore the real truth. Your god is a useless piece of shit.

You are biased and not in favor of the Bible.   There were judges in Israel who heard each case so whether the degree of disrespect a child was showing to his parents was a capital offense or not.   Obviously, loving parents would not turn a child over to these judges if the offense was tolerable.   The Bible taught the value of discipline - that would always come first.

Because Jesus died for our sins, there was more of a basis for mercy than under the law (Torah) of Moses.  Some under that law only loved those who loved them - that was wrong.   Jesus, in his sermon on the mount (Matthew chapters 5-7) said:

Matthew 5:43-47

43 “You heard that it was said: ‘You must love your neighbor+ and hate your enemy.’ 44 However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies+ and to pray for those who persecute you,+ 45 so that you may prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens,+ since he makes his sun rise on both the wicked and the good and makes it rain on both the righteous and the unrighteous.+ 46 For if you love those loving you, what reward do you have?+ Are not also the tax collectors doing the same thing? 47 And if you greet your brothers only, what extraordinary thing are you doing? Are not also the people of the nations doing the same thing?

Bullshit liar. The babble early clearly demands that parents kill their stubborn children. Lie to yourself. It won’t work here.
